I like sitting in a room filled with creepy light so elites like Larry David and Al Gore can air condition their mansions... while claiming moral superiority./s
Not that I vomit when I think of liberal elites... and their sickening hypocrisy.

So - if 100 watt bulbs are banned and we can currently buy 97 watt ones, are they the same? Are they banned too? Also 57 instead of 60/ 39/40, etc. They look just thwe same.

In some instances, incandescent light bulbs are actually more efficient than LEDs or CFLs. That's because they are also little infra-red radiant heaters. They make you feel slightly warmer, while you're sitting under them, and you can turn back the room thermostat a little bit.

My stockpile of incandescent bulbs will last a good long while.

They did that for a while - when the 75’s were banned, you could get 72’s.

Personally, Im moving to LED bulbs! GREAT! Just dont drop and break one!!
Why would it matter if I drop and break an LED bulb? They don't contain mercury.

Personally, I'm moving to LED bulbs! I love the LED bulbs I've put in so far. No blow outs yet, the color is much nicer than CFL, they turn on instantly and won't kill you from merely looking at a broken one. I'm eagerly waiting for the higher power ones (75, 100, 150 and three-ways) to get cheaper so I can replace some of my brighter incandescents.
Every CFL I have I hate, except for a low power one I keep on nearly constantly on my basement steps. I'll gladly pay $10 a year for the power to keep it on all the time.

Benefit society?! Hopefully you mean this question sarcastically and didn't fall for that tired excuse they trot out every time special interest legislation is passed.
It's supposed to benefit the lighting companies that lobbied for years for the legislation to be passed. The profit margin is higher on other light sources. The "efficiency" of the light sources do not make up the additional energy used to manufacture them.

We heat our house mainly with electricity. Heating season (9 months/yr) and lighting season largely overlap. Almost none of the electricity going through our few remaining incandescent bulbs is wasted. (Please also see my post #44.) The exception is our outdoor porch light, where I am using a CFL bulb.

Some (maybe all) of the 72 watt bulbs are 100-watt replacement halogens. Because the filament is hotter than regular incandescent bulbs they can produce more visible light per watt. On the other hand I can't fight any 100 watt or 150 watt halogens which were brighter than the same powered regular bulbs.

Incandescent bulbs are 100% efficient. Five percent of the energy lights my cold house, and 95% of the energy heats my cold house. One hundred percent efficient.

incandescent light bulbs are also great for keeping baby chicks warm and preventing freezing of the well house pumps.

You are in Georgia. You don't know what a cold house is.
I am in Wisconsin, and it hit -11F today, with none of that BS wind chill stuff.

This phase of the ban goes down to 40 watts, so not sure 37 watt bulbs would be worth the effort...

Nope...
I asked earlier if anyone has encountered a liberal that denies the incandescent ban exists.
One person, besides me, knows someone that thinks it’s a black helicopter conspiracy theory type deal to say that the government has banned lightbulbs.
