Would you enjoy the cosiness and warmth of Christmas with your children or grandchildren just that little bit less if you knew that other people's children were dying because of it? More than four million children under five years old are now at risk of acute malnutrition in the Sahel, an area of the world that is one of the clearest victims of the rich world's addiction to fossil fuels.
About 18 million people in the Sahel the vulnerable pan-African strip of land that runs from Senegal to Sudan along the southern edge of the Sahara faced famine last year. Life has never been easy there. Its land is poor. Its people are often semi-nomadic, moving their animals between the grasslands. But science is increasingly pointing a hard finger at those to blame for the persistence of Sahelian drought and it is us.
This is an ineluctable consequence of improving the computer models of climate change. Of course, there are still large uncertainties. But what has long persuaded me of the strength of the scientific case for human-induced climate change is that climate-sceptic scientists have not managed to build a model that explains global warming without human-induced effects. The human hand is indispensable in understanding what has happened.

This is soooo last decade.
Climate changes. Cope.
What’s killing these folks is gov’t created shortages. It’s the Marxists/Animists/Muslims/etc who terrorize the locales and use them like cattle. If these areas could be free to have the wealth of their labor then they’d do fine like the formerly impoverished folks of Eastern Europe and other nations saddled by the pit vipers of regressive/repressive 20th century politics.
These people suffer because Guardian editors/readers want to keep a failed 19th century economic philosophy alive.

More “step on a crack, break your mother’s back science.
My mom used to put me on a guilt trip for not cleaning my plate while African kids starved. I told they would likely starve whether I cleaned my plate or not.
Good luck collecting from the hippies in SF.
(They are the ones who did whatever it was they did.)
What is the end game?
To have all the advanced, industrious people in the world working to support the blacks?
if so, Obama has given it a good start here in the USA.

They talked famine in the Sahel in the ‘70’s big time. It was supposed to prove a different point then.
Would it be an ad hom to point out that he is the same Chris Huhne identified in the following article from earlier this year? (Yes, I know that the link goes to the NY Times instead of to a reputable news source, but it is what it is.)
Excerpt:
British Politician and Ex-Wife Sentenced to Prison
At Southwark Crown Court in London, the judge, Sir Nigel Sweeney, sentenced the defendants Chris Huhne, 58, formerly the energy minister in Prime Minister David Camerons cabinet, and Vicky Pryce, 60, a prominent economist to eight months in prison for perverting the course of justice.
We have to act now before it is too late! Does the President know about this?
More probably true if they cited the EPA, Dept of Agriculture and Dept of Commerce, etc. (crimes against humanity) for using corn (food) to perpetuate the nonsense of ethanol as a fuel.

The environment is suffering damage that could be irreversible global warming, the greenhouse effect, the melting of the polar ice caps, the rising sea level, hurricanes with terrible social occurrences that will shake life on this planet.
I believe this idea has a strong connection with reality. I dont think we have much time. Fidel Castro said in one of his speeches I read not so long ago, tomorrow could be too late, lets do now what we need to do.
I believe it is time that we take up with courage and clarity a political, social, collective and ideological offensive across the world a real offensive that permits us to move progressively, over the next years, the next decades, leaving behind the perverse, destructive, destroyer, capitalist model and go forward in constructing the socialist model to avoid barbarism and beyond that the annihilation of life on this planet.

Bin Laden blasts US for climate change
CAIRO Al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden has called for the world to boycott American goods and the U.S. dollar, blaming the United States and other industrialized countries for global warming, according to a new audiotape released Friday.
In the tape, broadcast in part on Al-Jazeera television, bin Laden warned of the dangers of climate change and says that the way to stop it is to bring the wheels of the American economy to a halt.

Charles Manson, the notorious cult leader, has broken a 20-year silence in an interview from his prison cell to warn the world of an impending apocalypse due to global warming.

Everyones God and if we dont wake up to that theres going to be no weather because our polar caps are melting because were doing bad things to the atmosphere, he said.
The automobiles and fossil fuels are destroying the atmosphere and we wont have air to breathe.
No.
I think I'll go stoke my fireplace with some more dead African baby corpses.
Climate scientists have not managed to build a model that explains human-induced global warming while remaining consistent with observable reality.
Here is my suggestion.
Take all the money countries give the UN for Africa and give it to Halliburton and other companies to build 10 desalnization facilities and infrastructure along the African coast.
Use that water for crops. Turn Africa into a new green belt. The new greening would increase oxygen, eat up the extra CO2, as well as lower the oceans due to global warming.
A new global economy is created. It would be the biggest infrastructure project ever nd it will save the planet.
And it will be cheaper than taxing Anericans to give to tin pot dictators.
