I enlisted in the US Army in February of 1969 at the height of the VietNam war and served a combat tour in country.

I can assure you with utmost confidence, of all the "bizarre" things I have done in my life, it doesn't even make the top ten.

However on the list of things I am proud of or happy about, it's way up there, right after accepting Jesus as my personal Savior and adopting my two sons.

Look, my son is active-duty Army. I myself work on veterans’ issues, including homelessness, where I live. I understand the issues and think Paul Ryan is a disgrace.

But it does no good to mischaracterize one one of the House’s leading conservatives, who is leaving office anyway next year, especially when she didn’t vote for Ryan/Murray, which was the point of the article.

We gave one recruit a blanket party in basic training. He would not take a shower until we gave him one, about the end of the first week. No problem after that.
