You know, it reminds me of America. The media loves to foist this idealistic pristine pseudo-perfection off on us as if the Garden of Eden existed here before modern man arrived from Europe.

Some things from this existence were probably pretty good. Other parts of it were barbaric. Waring factions, tribal competition, these things weren’t out of some rules of Hoyle etiquette, to bastardize a rules of cards reference.

Same thing takes place in Africa even today. The Western influence where absent, reveals the ugly underbelly of African reality.

Massive slaughter with no holds barred. How many times have we seen it, and how many times must we see it?

That being said, the modern man that arrived from Europe was in some ways barbaric too. The senseless slaughter of the wild buffalo in the U. S. is a case in point.

The interesting thing is that much that slaughter was aided by American Indians who depended on the buffalo hide trade and sought to make as much as possible out of what they thought was an inexhaustible supply of buffalo. Both whites and Indians share the blame on that one with plenty of raw greed to go around.
