Just saw this on local D.C. news..they even had it on video. Unbelievable, he was there for a toy give-away when he was shot.
I got shot in the back with a pellet gun at age 14 from about 50 yards away. The pellet was spent out by that distance but it still hurt like hell.
Maybe Megan Kelly was right...

We went out into the woods and played “war” with BB guns. And our parents knew about it. I had a guy in my sites at the same time he had me in his. He fired first and hit the knuckle of my trigger finger. Damn, that hurt. I immediately surrendered!
This same kid shot his brother in the eye. The BB stuck in his eyelid so the shooter walked up to his brother and plucked it out. It did not shoot his eye out.
He had to barge in a load of lignite for a certain batch of asshats there before he got to the good people...

Isn’t that an air rifle? To me, and perhaps incorrectly, a “pellet” gun/rifle/pistol is spring driven.
Kid got underwear instead of Air Jordans.
Actually it is piston/spring driven. One break over cocking sets the piston.
This past summer a little kid up in the foothills got shot in the chest with one and died. He was pretty small for his age, and took a hit that was probably 1-1,000,000 for hitting a vital area.
Most of the competition guns for American field target will kill you fairly easily with the right shot (19.5 ftlb is the limit I believe). World Federation is 12.5 ftlb to mollify all the candy ass nations so the likely hood of serious injury is less there, but a .177 at that level could still do harm placed in the right spot.
Outside of competition you can get a production .30 cal at 100+ ftlb and it shoots 1/2-1 MOA at 100 yards too I believe, that’ll make you dead...
Register all pellet guns, slingshots, and hackysacks.

HA! At least you shot yourself! My dad was teaching me about the CO2 pellet gun and I was wasnt paying attention while on the range, so he waited until the CO2 cartridge was JUST about empty and shot me on top of my leather shoes....SOB hurt but taught me a lesson. A couple of them :)

Santa the irony would be, well...never mind. The only downside would be if those EPA agents with weapons might catch you. Then again probably not, they will be spending time with the USSS hookers they know there in DC.
Santa, if you do this, I will be good all next year, promise. Oh, when you get here tomorrow, the egg nog that you like (wink), will be out on the lanai. Thanks Santa.
