Some people did not like my recent article about Phil Robertson, star of "Duck Dynasty."
In the article, I noted problems with Robertson's comments that go far beyond the idea that homosexuality is a sin. Robertson said blacks didn't seem unhappy about oppression in the Jim Crow-era South; he blamed Pearl Harbor on the failure of the Japanese to accept Jesus; and contrary to his protestations, he hates gay people. I don't think any of that is O.K.
I got dozens of letters taking issue with my claims.
Some of the letters are hilarious and some are sad, like the father who says "I have 3 boys and one of my greatest fears is of them growing up LGBT." But they all reflect the fact that hateful bigots are a large market segment and political bloc, which is why Phil Robertson has so many fans and defenders.
Finally, a minority subset of the letters came from Christians who seemed more interested in informing me of my sin than in insulting me, and who wanted me to know that when Robertson said gays and lesbians were "full of murder," "heartless," "senseless" and whatnot, he was just paraphrasing Romans 1. Why this is supposed to make his sentiment any more acceptable or less hateful, I do not understand.
Now, to the mailbox:
#1 says Business Insider is destroying America:
Pinhead and self styled intellect, Josh Barro sounds like a manure salesman with a mouth full of samples.
Why not try and report "real news" instead of "creating news" with personal opinion, lies and outright spin?
Business Insider along with the "Josh Barro's of the world" should get out of the library and see the real world as the USA sinks into an abyss of ultraliberalism, political correctness where everyone is offended, socialism....

He is just claiming the leftist modus operandi - victim status
Is Josh talking about himself?
Maybe Josh should start with the truth in the comments by the people he despises, instead of "cherry picking" some aspect of the comments and concerns? Why do people say homosexual acts are sinful? What has their concerns have to do with natural law, risk of sexually transmitted diseases, life span of the homosexual community? Why do so many religions ban same sex union? Is there any real basis for that?
Sure they are.
Phil only spoke about the black people that he knew, not all black people in the country.
I don’t like faggies, I don’t like what they boast about doing, and I don’t want them for friends.
Come and get me, coppers.
Having a son grow up to be a lesbian would be quite a feat ... although Sonny and Cher’s daughter grew up to be a homosexual man, so I guess anything’s possible in this crazy world.
I have a question for the homosexuals...
Is it acceptable to love you as human beings, but deplore your sexual perversion? Or do we have to embrace those destructive and abnormal activities as well? Just askin’.
You mean some average Joe didn’t use LBGT quite right? How unhip.
Oh how the arrogant-assed, extreme vocal minority, and their sensonalizing media, fails to accept that this is still a very conservative country.
What does anyone expect from a candy ass?
LGBT?? If some father is worried that his son may become a lesbian, he can certainly relax. I’ve been a lesbian trapped in a man’s body my whole life. It’s not a bad way to be.
“He is just claiming the leftist modus operandi - victim status”
Precisely and too stupid to see through every duck up.
There are two America’s —I can agree with that. The problem I have with those caught in that web of homosexual deceit (to borrow from a professional ) is they think the world would be better Homosexual— There is a way that seems right to a man —but the end thereof is death. There are those in America that are Perishing and there are those who have found rest in the shadow of the Cross. A house or Nation divided against itself cannot stand—as it is written . For this reason I choose to stand with those who honor the foundation of this Nation—and oppose the queering of America.
Wow. Dozens. Whatever salary he's getting he's woefully overpaid.
“Why is a finance publication doing social commentary in the first place?”
Anyone can write for Yahoo. I believe the liberal scribblers at Yahoo news get paid by the number of hits per article. Something similar to 1,000 hits pay $1. The more controversial the article, the more hits you get and the more you get paid.
In addition, Yahoo, unlike other left wing sites, doesn’t censor comments. Right now, the article has more than 5,000 comments, many from conservatives. I believe this to be a good thing. Conservatives are getting their views out on a hard-core liberal news site. That’s more than we can say for the MSM propaganda press.
Your whole post shouldn’t make sense but it does.
“...and contrary to his protestations, he hates gay people.”
Well, then I guess it should be easy to find an example of him mistreating a gay person, since he hates them so much.
Name one, Mr. Barro.
Life is weird.
Boy does he have a huge following. [/sarc]
