Ex-CIA director: Snowden should be ‘hanged’ if convicted for treason
Fox ^ | Dec 17 2013 | Lucas Tomlinson

Former CIA Director James Woolsey had harsh words Tuesday for anyone thinking about giving Edward Snowden amnesty, and argued the NSA leaker should be “hanged” if he’s ever tried and convicted of treason.

Woolsey, along with former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Hugh Shelton, spoke Tuesday in Washington in an interview with Fox News.

“I think giving him amnesty is idiotic,” Woolsey said. “He should be prosecuted for treason. If convicted by a jury of his peers, he should be hanged by his neck until he is dead."

No, the US is not more socialist than China or Russia.

Putin just expanded state media, he stole the last election. He is not for freedom...he is only for the elite being "capitalist".

Obama is trying to head us down the Putin road but America has a long way till we get there.

So you are on record for saying that the fedgove reading and listening to all communications is just fine? But the guy who had to flee to break the story should be killed?

What agency do you work for?

When the state starts treating it's people as enemies, what is the correct path?

“Putin just expanded state media, he stole the last election. He is not for freedom...he is only for the elite being “capitalist”.”

The key questions are not about who is politically connected that makes money off that but about the common man and how free is he to earn a living in a “free market”. How much of his income is taken to pay for wealth redistribution schemes? or for government “regulation”?

There has never been a pure capitalist economy and probably never will as there are always people at the top that seek some advantage in the market place based on their connections or government power. But if I look at it the US has become a crony capitalist/Fascist welfare state. Over half my salary goes to support the government and welfare. We have SWAT raids on farms sell “raw” products, we have seizures of any large amounts of cash you might be carrying, you can’t board a plane without being virtually stripped searched. In both Russia and China you basically starve if you don’t work as there is very little wealth redistribution and while there is also a large amount of cronyism and any large corporation is politically connected in someway I would say that they are on the whole more capitalist than we are.

You sound like a leftist. Snowden comitted treason and should be executed.

Do you work for a domestic spying company, or the NSA?

That bugs me. Shouldn't it be hung?

As for how he goes it should have been done long before now. Some 'accident' or whatever.

Domestic spying on US citizens by the NSA is definitely a debatable topic. However, it will never be acceptable to give our national secrets out to the Chinese and Russians or any other foreign country. I do not understand how that is so hard for a few on FR to comprehend. (So that you know that this is coming from someone who HATES our current leadership, I will also say that I think our current leaders are marxist and that making our military gay-friendly is a travesty beyond belief.)

Yeah well I think the ex CIA director should be hanged for smuggling drugs into the US. Snowden has done more good for the American citizens than the entire CIA. Our greatest enemy is the federal government.

America’s enemies were the ones doing the spying.

You know, we the people have been told by the spymasters and the watchers that if we’re doing nothing wrong then we have nothing to worry about.

Snowden would not have had to go public in the first place had not the spymasters and etc. been doing something wrong that they were worried about.

Now the public knows that our government treats us all as potential enemies and we’re posing the question of if we should feel the same way about our government. I know that my family is ordering our lives differently because of the revelations that Snowden made public and I imagine a lot of people and businesses are doing the same.

Not because China and Russia might spy on us, but because our own government is doing it.

Defend this all you want, unless there’s a court order from a real court (and not some secret star chamber) then I don’t want ANYONE spied on or monitored by our government.

The thing with the NSA is that they collect ALL of the information they can and then they say they only access it with a court order. That’s a lie. The video of Mitt Romney and the ‘47%’ was hacked and it likely came from the NSA. Romney’s IRS records were made public. And etc.

No, the price we pay for this nonsense is too high and it needs to stop. That Snowden gave away their secrets is just too bad because they were breaking the law and they needed to be stopped.

The problem with Snowden is he went a head and started releasing stuff on what we do to other countries

You mean like how the NSA recorded all of German Chancellor Merkel's phone calls? And how they're spying on the UK, Australia, Canada, and New Zealand despite past agreements with those countries that say we won't do such things?

Sorry, I still side with Snowden on this. He's doing the right thing in exposing these abuses.

While some of the NSA programs are out of wack, and need to be curtailed, reformed or abolished, others are lifesaving and need to be kept.

Which ones are “lifesaving”? and do you have evidence other than the assertions of the people running them? Do you always trust what government officials say, without evidence? One of the oversight committee members - a law prof from Chicago - said he was shocked to see that not a single terrorist incident had been thwarted by the NSA spying. And he’s an Obama supporter.

Did Snowden get anyone killed? I wonder how Woolsey feels about CIA traitors who gave up informants.

But, bottom line, if you are a law abiding citizen, almost no one in the world cares about what you do or what you think.

I used to think like that but there is just too much potential abuse. It wouldn’t take much to send you or me to the gulag.

If you cannot come and go as you please without the government monitoring your movements...
If you can’t speak your mind for fear that they may hear you, and as a result turn their focus on you...

You are already in the gulag.

Bingo! There are lots of people involved in all this that I’d like to see impersonating Mussolini.

Wow. You were doing so well before your post devolved into foil-hat wearing truther madness there at the end...

None of those buildings were rigged, it’s been thoroughly debunked.

It’s not even necessary to the argument.
