Actually, this is nothing new. And plenty of bill collectors will be chomping at your estate after you die. You think your death should erase paying for services you received while living? If not you, who should pay for them?
This does NOT apply to the EXEMPT Congress,
pOTUS, SCOTUS, or any of THEIR families, or staff,
and of course, Moslems - as the First Moslem wanted.
They are very crafty. They knew what they are doing. They really had their eyes set on all that money that normal, hard-working (White) people earned honestly during their lives. They want it! They will use it to live high off the hog, and to reward their constituents who vote loyally democrat. You know who they are.
My sons have been told to kill them when they knock on the door.
yes but now if they try to collect from other family, legally it’s not their bill, it’s the deceased’ bill, and they aren’t liable. they then write it off.
You are right, the death tax is different from asset recovery. The death tax takes what is left after the deceased has met all their obligations. Asset recovery is paying for medical care provided by the government for free (paid for by those that pay taxes). Some assets are protected during life, but the government gets reimbursed before the heirs get to inherit what is left from the assets that had been protected.
This is a good part of Obama care.
Are their any tax/estate attorneys here that care to comment? Especially on living trust or estate strategies to placing estate properties into trusts.
It is new,if you are between 55&64 and have lost your job,you have bills,a family a mortgage and no income. The law says you have to buy insurance or pay a penalty,a tax.
So now the government is forcing you to buy something you can’t afford, your income is now below the poverty line and the only choice you have is the Medicaid system where the government will take your estate after you die.
That is a predatory loan, taking advantage of a person in a desperate situation,it was not always that way.
Certainly not, but do you really think this will be applied evenly across the boards? I doubt it.
Obama's favored constituencies (the rich and the poor) probably won't be touched by this. We in the middle will be the ones to bear the burden. As usual.
I've got a few sons myself. A couple of 'em are meaner'n snot.
After you die?
Huh?
It's called redistribution, baby!
Someone see the big corrupt picture..

The article claims that if the decedent is penniless, they'll bill the offspring. I'm going to call BS on this claim until I see otherwise. Like Nancy Pelosi, I don't have time to read 20,000 pages of Obamacare to learn what's in it. If someone else out there can point me to this particular passage, I'll gladly offer my mea culpas.
OK. So if I’m already on Medicare which I had to be when I turned 65, when I die the government can then come after my estate? Wow.
See Dragnet's post #15. It speaks to your objection.
They’ve got your bank account information and the NSA has the Last Will and Testament recorded, along with whomever is to receive estate assets. Chances are high the feds’ll have bank account info for those folks, too. That’ll make electronic withdrawals easier, whenever, and for whatever amounts they deem appropriate.
In short, they won’t need to knock on your door. The feds’ system for collecting whatever they consider is due them will be tighter than any casino making sure the feds get taxes from your winnings—before you touch a thin dime.

***...perhaps you sign up for Medicare or Medicaid as a free alternative.****
Medicare is not ‘free’.
Single woman eligible for SS & Medicare after raising 4 children by working for 40+ years - no Medicaid, no Welfare, no rental subsidies, no food stamps.
My employer(s)working 3 jobs) and I, contributed during my working years and I still pay monthly; $200+ for Parts B & D, plus $200 for a Medigap supplement; in addition to stuff Medicare does not cover (hearing & dental).
Not only that!!! the Federal Government controls retirees’ IRAs and 401Ks by forcing mandatory withdrawals/deductions after age 70. It’s not your money!!!!
