The most popular reality show in cable television history has sparked a heated national debate, laying bare a national rift over gay rights and free speech and prompting politicians, entertainers and ordinary folks to enter the cultural fray.
Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal, as well as former GOP presidential candidates Newt Gingrich and Sarah Palin, have all come to the defense of 'Duck Dynasty' star Phil Robertson, whose statements condemning homosexuality angered many and earned him an "indefinite suspension" from the A&E network. With families gathering for the holidays next week, it seems likely 'Duck Dynasty' will dominate many dinner table debates.
What won't be as clear is whether the hit show will go on. A statement from the Robertson family released late Thursday raised doubts about the Louisiana clan's willingness to continue after comments from patriarch Phil Robertson triggered an uproar.
We have had a successful working relationship with A&E but, as a family, we cannot imagine the show going forward without our patriarch at the helm, the Robertson family said in a prepared statement. We are in discussions with A&E to see what that means for the future of Duck Dynasty.
The family said it has spent much time in prayer since learning A&E had suspended Phil Robertson, the patriarch of the Louisiana family, over comments he made about homosexuality....

Well, how to confront it is one of the challenges and the homosexual activists are teaching explicit acts in school. Your niece may be exposed to more than the school system admits. Also, there is a growing movement to say to children that they can't decide if they are heterosexual until they have tried homosexual acts. The evil is pervasive and the school systems often conceal just what is being taught.
All A&E had to do was issue a statement saying they were perfectly ok with gays, lesbians etc. not watching Duck Dynasty!
Our education system has been taken over.
Tenure is a huge problem.
I say, eliminate it completely. Break the monopoly liberals hold over our education system.
America needs quality schools once again.
For the record, I hate the term “gay,” as there is nothing gay about their lifestyle or activity, but, let’s play along shall we? They have the right to live their lives as they see fit - and we have the right not to accept that lifestyle as normal. However, they are of the mindset that they are a protected class like African Americans. African Americans are born the color they are - they have no say so. However, gays aren’t born that way, regardless of what they try to teach and make us believe. Many have repented of that lifestyle and gone straight. A black cannot change his/her color. However, people don’t seem to understand the difference.
Maybe, just maybe, Phil’s words will cause some to see that their lifestyle is sin and turn from their wicked ways. To continue to pander to their deviance as most do - really doesn’t do them any favors. It is more loving to tell people the truth than to allow them to believe that they are going to heaven full of sin, and that includes all those Phil mentioned - not just homosexuals.
So, we’ll see how this all plays out.
Did the poll, the % is still the same. There are no numbers to see the actual vote tallies.
Did you just start watching BOR recently? Because I stopped watching him more than a decade ago because of his arrogance.
Brother Jeb is busy asking for amnesty for Christmas. Seriously.
Ted O’Baxter and Goldberg were calling good evil and evil good last evening.
O’Reilly is now banned in my home.

Wonderful comment! You nailed it!
O’Reilly has his own sins of the flesh to worry about, so I’m not surprised he would attack Robertson. It hits too close for comfort.
Nearly all the teachers in this nation, from kindergarten through graduate school, were trained by godless Marxists in Marxist-run colleges and universities. SCARY! It can't be reformed. It must be abolished and an entirely new and private systems of educating our children and young be rediscovered or invented.
1) One of the reasons I am less active on Free Republic and the education threads is that I see very little awareness by conservatives that Marxist run education is an extreme threat to our nation's freedom. And...I now believe that it is likely too late.
2) Personally, I have made a decision. I shun government school teachers. They are too evil, too stupid, or too much of a Useful Idiot to be a friend. ( I don't have abortion workers for friends either.)
I don't watch TV for news anymore, who on Fox is doing that?
Partially. Im sure many FReepers will attest to their non-communistic experience of outstanding education within their communities. That aside, the influence of Communism is indeed an issue ( Gene Eric)
It is comments like yours that cause me to feel completely hopeless. Even here on Free Republic there are many conservatives that simple can not, or refuse to accept, that government K-12 schooling is fundamentally a collectivist, single-payer, and godless socialist entitlement. It was our nation's **first** compulsory-use and compulsory-funded socialist-entitlement.
Such rot can not be reformed. It must be abolished. New models must be invented, or rediscovered, for educating our children and young adults.
While there may be "good" government teachers our there in the land of socialist-entitlement K-12 schools, I have never met one. I have met so-called "conservative" teachers but in getting to know them I have found them to be obsequious "get along to get the paycheck" TOADIES!
Personally, I have made a decision. I will no longer have a government K-12 teacher for a friend. They are too evil, too stupid, or too much of a Useful Idiot to be a friend. I don't have abortion workers for friends either.

abcess!!!!
Yeah, Obama is a lackey.
Verga's corollary to Godwin's law: When a person needs to resort to terms like the above or referring to others as "bullies" or "stalkers" they automatically lose the debate.
Addendum: When they seek to silence debate by using the exact same tactics that GLAAD is using against Phil Robertson they a demonstrating intolerance and an inability to defend their position. At that point you need to seriously consider the validity of that position.
