Partially. Im sure many FReepers will attest to their non-communistic experience of outstanding education within their communities. That aside, the influence of Communism is indeed an issue ( Gene Eric)
It is comments like yours that cause me to feel completely hopeless. Even here on Free Republic there are many conservatives that simple can not, or refuse to accept, that government K-12 schooling is fundamentally a collectivist, single-payer, and godless socialist entitlement. It was our nation's **first** compulsory-use and compulsory-funded socialist-entitlement.
Such rot can not be reformed. It must be abolished. New models must be invented, or rediscovered, for educating our children and young adults.
While there may be "good" government teachers our there in the land of socialist-entitlement K-12 schools, I have never met one. I have met so-called "conservative" teachers but in getting to know them I have found them to be obsequious "get along to get the paycheck" TOADIES!
Personally, I have made a decision. I will no longer have a government K-12 teacher for a friend. They are too evil, too stupid, or too much of a Useful Idiot to be a friend. I don't have abortion workers for friends either.
Verga's corollary to Godwin's law: When a person needs to resort to terms like the above or referring to others as "bullies" or "stalkers" they automatically lose the debate.
Addendum: When they seek to silence debate by using the exact same tactics that GLAAD is using against Phil Robertson they a demonstrating intolerance and an inability to defend their position. At that point you need to seriously consider the validity of that position.

You must be speaking in political terms since there’s no practical value in denying your adversary’s proficiencies.
