‘Duck Dynasty’ Fallout: GLAAD Reeling From Biggest Backlash in Years, Says Rep

In the fallout over Wednesday’s suspension of “Duck Dynasty” star Phil Robertson by A&E for anti-gay and racist remarks, GLAAD is experiencing record levels of backlash.

“In the five-and-a-half years I’ve worked at GLAAD, I’ve never received so many violently angry phone calls and social media posts attacking GLAAD for us speaking out against these comments,” the media watchdog organization’s vice president of communications Rich Ferraro told TheWrap.

He said those reactions range from those who simply believe as Robertson believes to those who feel that GLAAD and A&E’s actions limit the reality star’s free speech.

“I don’t think this is about the first amendment,” Ferraro said. “I feel it’s more about the America we live in today. That is one where Americans, gay and straight, are able to speak out when people in the public eye make anti-gay and racist remarks.”

Robertson’s supporters have started petitions, called for boycotts and include Sarah Palin, Sean Hannity and Louisiana governor Bobby Jindal. Currently, more than 70,000 people have signed the online petition asking A&E to drop the suspension.

The left cannot allow anyone in the public eye to go off the reservation. Everyone must endorse in one way or another homosexual sex or be crucified.

The mistake Phil made was to talk about the mechanics of “homo-love” and expose the reality of that life. It’s like pro-lifers showing the masses what an aborted fetus looks like. Not allowed!!! The facts of the situation are not allowed to be revealed and discussed...hence the Nazi tactic of oppression...in America!

Bingo! Exposing the homosexual fascination with the anus reveals the demonic nature of that sinful activity -- the telltale, counterfeit "opposite" of what God established and ordained. That, and his loving reference to the unequaled object of hatred: Jesus.

“...I heard the gay leaders say “phil needed to get in line” ...”

I heard that too. Who the hell is he to say that about anybody?

After 5+ years of this national insanity, I've become convinced that, just as God sent plagues and other calamities to chasten the Hebrew people for their apostacy, He sent obozo to drag us --  kicking and screaming if necessary -- back from the abyss.  I sense that we MAY be starting to respond to His "wake-up" call! I hope you would join me in praying that it is so.

Pride goeth before destruction and a haughty attitude before a fall...or something like that. Merely Christmas!

It gets to be a problem when they use it as a weapon and try to beat you to death.

Racist remarks? Guess I missed those.

He said he knew happy black people in the south before the civil rights era.

Horrifying huh?

The country is a powder keg in many ways, all it takes is a spark.
Someone to speak out first and others will chime in.

“We believe the next step is to use this as an opportunity for Phil to sit down with gay families in Louisiana and learn about their lives and the values they share!”

Sounds like an oblique threat of re-education to me. Somehow I don't think Phil will be accepting that invitation, but he's an understanding sort of fellow. He just may invite them to his next sermon instead.

Darn it. The left just seems to have a knack for ruining every good thing there is. Sorry 'bout that, brother.

It is a truly filthy, violent, disease-ridden life style, leading to early death. No child should be encouraged to pursue it.

When I was growing up, homosexuality was something that wasn't even whispered about. At least not where I was from. I had my first exposure to it at fifteen. The very thought of such a thing was so repugnant to me, that I almost threw up on the spot.

Coulda sworn that was Drudge there

I thought so too, for half a second. It reminded me that Matt plays for the 2%. This issue must be driving him nuts.

His free speech may not have been violated, but his civil rights were!
It is against the law to discriminate against someone due to their religious beliefs.

Title VII of the 1964 Civil Rights Act.

Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 protects individuals against employment discrimination on the bases of race and color, as well as national origin, sex, and religion. Title VII applies to employers with 15 or more employees, including state and local governments. It also applies to employment agencies and to labor organizations, as well as to the federal government.

They said all they wanted was tolerance. Just a little tolerance. That's all. Remember that lie?

Yep. Somehow, I knew they'd never be satisfied with simple acceptance and tolerance. No, we're now 'haters' and 'bigots' because we don't champion their depraved lifestyle.
