Even Andrew Sullivan, the prominent gay writer who has been hailed as a pioneer, said he was "befuddled" by A&E's suspension of Duck Dynasty patriarch Phil Robertson. He called the suspension "preposterous" and "unfair." A&E suspended Robertson on Wednesday for comments to GQ that were deemed to be "anti-gay." "Hes a reality show character, for Petes sake. Not an A&E spokesman," Sullivan wrote on his blog on Thursday. "Hes being fired for staying in character a character A&E have nurtured and promoted and benefited from. Turning around and demanding a Duck Dynasty star suddenly become the equivalent of a Rachel Maddow guest is preposterous and unfair." Sullivan observed that the show is a "kind of celebration of a culture where duck hunting is the primary religion, but where fundamentalist Christianity is also completely pervasive."

Also, I wonder if any of the Robertsons will be invited to appear on one of the Sunday talking-feces shows? (MTP, FTN, etc.)
Watching liberals light up exploding cigars really cracks me up.
Now that their TV show is being threatened some people are starting to wake up to the gay mafia. Agree Sullivan is trying to do damage control.
Got a smile from me.
That is a good question, given they are supposed to talk about the most news worthy stories of the week.
I can only think Obama is loving this, keeping him off the screen
I still believe this is all part of Hillary’s “Third Way” campaign where she needs the left and right to be portrayed as extremist and the reasonable people in the middle, “The Third Way”.
Isn’t he the “writer” who was busted posting an online ad looking for men to gangbang him? What a sick pervert.
You know, to show their support for the "cause."
Phil is being treated like Paula Deen.
BINGO.. Of all the targets that Homo activists could have chosen, Phil from Duck Dynasty was the worst choice.. I believe they could trap him into saying something that would diminish the brand, which they despise as a reflection of the typical, Conservative, judgmental Religious Right..
They believe their agenda is totally accepted by the overwhelming majority of Americans because they live in an echo chamber that agrees with everything they espouse..
I believe this is "jump the Shark" moment, that was coming to a head..
Last night BOR showed he has no concept of what the Bible teaches. I’m not inclined to read his (ghost written?) “Killing Jesus”. Anyone that ignorant of the Bible has nothing to teach me about Jesus.
then might a Christian organization be justified in firing/suspending an employee/worker who is outspokenly pro-gay?”
You bet - right after the sun comes up for three days in a row in the west and sets in the east!
You make a very good point. The difference, I think, is that some employers (Christian) are not aware that their employees are gay and when discovered, they are let go. This isn’t the case with A&E - they have known from the outset what the Robertsons’s believe - they didn’t hide their faith. Yes, I think that door does swing both ways. What’s sauce for the goose should be sauce for the gander - or in this case - the duck.
A & E really stepped in it. The company could have scored big time with even more new fans.
Instead they fire the star for expressing his religious views. Are y’all really that stupid?
First, see earlier FR thread ...
Bill O'Reilly vs Bible commentaries on Luke 6:37 (O'Reilly factor on Phil Robertson. Video)
I have read both books below. They were both released this year. They essentially write from the same perspective and tell the same story. You would be remiss to dismiss them because of BO'Re's ignorance of Christianity. They both really add a deeper understanding of the events which transpired during Holy Week. The author Stephen Mansfield was on Hannity's show back in the spring promoting his book.
I just watched BO'Re's opening monologue on "TOF". Just as Freepers predicted, he is not backing down on his erroneous interpretation of the Luke passage. I hope this really damages BO'Re.
Yo!, The Cid!
Only a student of military history knows about the “Fabian” approach.
And I agree. So far, they have been successful in their “one small piece of the pie at a time, tactic.”
But, they have gone and gotten all full of themselves and really do think that NOW is the time for a head on frontal assault. What a mistake.
What was it Dirty Harry said in Magnum Force? “Man’s got know his LIMITATIONS.”
I think their past successes have led them astray, and now they are going to pay a price.
Nice observation.
With all due respect to BOR, I’ve thumbed through the book and I didn’t see much that I haven’t already learned in Seminary.
Yup.
Sullivan is a committed Obama acolyte. A true belever. There is no group or principle he wouldn’t sacrifice in behalf of his man crush Obama.
LOL!
