If anyone gets any relief from their financial burdens because of Barack Obama's latest cynical political move to tinker with Obamacare, I am glad for them.
I am also glad for all the grassroots people and the small group of authentically conservative elected officials like Senator Ted Cruz who have stood up to really oppose Obamacare.
I am not so glad for the business as usual politicians of Washington, the Democrats, the Republicans, Obama, Boehner, McConnell etc. etc. who never really opposed "healthcare reform" to begin with, but used the issue to play to emotions so they could win elections.
And above all, I am not so glad in any way, shape or form with the healthcare and health insurance industries and their lobbyists who bought the politicians to give us this fiasco to begin with.
When they realized the money was going out faster than they could take it in, those folks didn't ask their customers to pay higher prices. I guess they were afraid of the reaction they would get.
So instead they went to the politicians to use the power of government to force everyone to buy their services and to pay higher prices.
One of the first politicians they got on board was Republican Governor Mitt Romney of Massachusetts, who signed off on a plan that forced everyone to buy health insurance at higher prices to benefit the healthcare industry.
Then they got Barack Obama on board to enact his liberal Democrat progressive version of "healthcare reform" to force everyone in the country to buy health insurance at higher prices to benefit the healthcare industry.
And they got the Republican leadership in Congress to take a position that Obamacare should not be stopped, it should be amended to create an interstate mandatory health insurance marketplace instead of an in state mandatory health insurance marketplace.
The GOP plan still gives the healthcare industry the increased cash flow from the pockets of the American people that they wanted all along, still using the power of government to shakedown the citizens.
This "healthcare reform" comes off as just more crony capitalism and business as usual politics no matter which way you cut it.
FOR THE MOMENT IT APPEARS OBAMA HAD MADE HIS LITTLE GAMBIT TO GIVE SOME TEMPORARY RELIEF TO THE AMERICAN PEOPLE SO HE CAN WIN THE ELECTION CYCLE NEXT YEAR, DISAPPOINTING THE SPECIAL INTERESTS THAT BOUGHT HIM, BUT HE MAY PLEASE THEM YET WHEN THE POLITICAL TIMING IS RIGHT.
"Frankly, its a big problem. Sasha and Malia say the
Sidwell school crowd would rather have unprotected
sex with Adam Levine than sign up for Obamacare."
Bohner went along with the shutdown that was demanded of him over Obamacare funding, for over two weeks.
Unfortunately since Obamacare funding like social security and medicare are all exempt from shutdowns that didn't work. Obamacare stayed funded the whole two weeks.
Some of us knew about this ahead of time but Rush wasnt telling his listeners about it,.
It didnt defund Obamacare and ended up for nothing.
Government shutdown wouldn't stop Obamacare

Why isn't Obamacare being shut down during the CR debacle?

With all due respect, I am not so one-sidedly against the Healthcare industry in this Obamacare disaster.
Actually, I find it difficult to believe that all this was initiated by healthcare industry lobbyists, myself. Don’t get me wrong - I don’t think the industry is solely complicit in this fundamental takeover, but that doesn’t mean that certain parts, certain companies and insurance providers didn’t participate in the legislation formulation process once they realized the Democrat Trifecta WOULD CERTAINLY implement some sort of universal care; a promise that they’d drooled over for their constituents for over 50 years or more.
This universal healthcare thing formally goes back to at least pre-1994 under HillaryCare. Without some sort of attribution in your article (links) that actually shows the healthcare and insurance industry originated this, I’d have to chalk it up to an opinion, as I have, and not news/activism.
Your basic argument hinges on the following statement:
**
When they realized the money was going out faster than they could take it in, those folks didn’t ask their customers to pay higher prices. I guess they were afraid of the reaction they would get.
**
Health Insurance companies losing money pre-Obamacare? Looking for an Obamacare bailout? Do you really have any evidence of that?
My theory: Single Payer is the Dems Holy Grail. Obamacare is the path to that goal. But it would put these same Insurance Companies out of business while enshrining Obama in the Dem Hall of Fame as the man who finally pulled it off.
Why would the Insurance Companies support such a plan?
The problem here is the mandated higher priced health coverage that the GOP leaders are content to allow happen in their interstate marketplace concept.
REVERSE OBAMACARE WITH NO MANDATE TO BUY COVERAGE FOR ANYONE.....
NO BAILOUT FOR THE HEALTHCARE INDUSTRY...
NO CRONY CAPITALIST POLITICS FROM WASHINGTON OR ANYWHERE ELSE TO USING THE POWER OF GOVERMENT TO FAVOR BUSINESS INTERESTS AT THE EXPENSE OF THE AMERICAN PEOPLE.....
Can we agree on such notions?
Mitt Romney spoke of “freeloaders” using the system when he talked about Romneycare in the 2012 campaign. He was saying people needed to pay into the system by being forced to buy insurance.
This is a replay of the auto insurance industry getting government to force everyone to buy car insurance back in the 1970’s and 80’s.
Hillarycare was 1990’s, but the problems leading to Romneycare and Obamacare are in the last decade.
Its most definitely about the money flowing out faster than it was flowing in.
Are talking about some specific GOP proposal? (beyond all those house repeal votes they took?)
However you feel, look at my post #6.
Is that something you can agree with me on?
I don’t think your car insurance argument translates over to healthcare, myself. For instance, there are many states where one can have a surety bond of a certain amount (say $25K) in lieu of insurance. In my state, this has been true since I started driving 45 years ago
Regardless, I don’t see how the inflow/outflow result flows to the assumption (at least from what I see in your post) that the healthcare industry and healthcare insurance industry are the initiators of what we have now.
IOW, you have not convinced me
Obamacare is an incremental step toward single payer. Rats admitted as much.
Insurance companies went along because they saw the potential for millions of new customers. Wouldn’t you love to have a business that sold something people were FORCED to buy?
For their support, insurers lobbied and got the “risk corridor” provision which is a bailout, if it occurs.
Obama for political reasons could never admit that if it were true but he did use Romneycare as an example of where he was taking things and Romney spoke of the cash flow issue by referring to “freeloaders” in his discussion of the need for a mandate to buy health insurance.
The GOP leaders with their support for a mandatory marketplace across state lines to buy insurance and the industry themselves with their dismay at Obama’s relaxing of the mandate to buy coverage tell us what its really all about.
Its all about putting more money in the pockets of the health insurance industry.
In its mechanics of mandating everyone to buy insurance, cancelling existing lower cost insurance and replacing it with higher priced insurance, Obamacare is designed to put more money into the health insurance industry.
There is a Strong case to be made that Americans have the obligation to be able to pay with or without insurance for the mandates put on hospitals for THEIR OWN emergency hospital treatment, back under Reagan.
So that would be like mandated liability on auto-insurance.
Now that is not Obamacare
Sure Obamacare has a *personal* mandate, but the mandate is for all sorts of *prevention* but the policies can have very high deductibles leaving the hospitals screwed again.
And that mandate is a joke because the IRS is not allowed to collect it.
who??
Romney is out of the picture now.
He lost.
Who cares what he 'spoke of' ?
Roll out the Obamacare Nightmare,
The Libs are havin a barrel of FUN!
“bailout”?
Try takeover!
You really think so?
I get the impression that they are terrified about what Obamacare is doing to Americans perceptions about the governments ability to make things better.
They see the same polls that FNC is showing.
Over at MSNBC they want to talk about ANYTHING ELSE but Obamacare :unemployment comp and Duck Dynasty
I think they are scared that Obama blew their dream
I don’t for a minute believe that Obama himself fretted over using the “Romney did it” excuse prior to the elections. He and his minions all agreed he himself couldn’t say it because of the campaign, but that did not stop his minions from doing it.
The truth is that this legislation got ramrodded through almost overnight, from inception to implementation was a matter of weeks. One does not put together over 2000 pages of legislation in a matter of days/weeks. PPACA WAS a compendium of liberal wet dreams formally going back to pre 1994 and before updated with the latest Obama cabal socialist influences, and RomneyCare was just a small part of it, in my opinion.
I don’t argue your assertions about how the GOP reacted, nor the effects PPACA ended up influencing on the healthcare and insurance industry. I only argue I don’t think either industry is responsible for ObamaCare’s origination as your article implied - to me, anyway.
To me, this whole line of discussion is more General/Chat related than a News/Activism discussion, especially with no corresponding recent links discussing same.

Frankly, MICHELLE, maybe you should remove Sasha and Malia and find a faith-based school - a parochial school that has been vetted.
Please do not remove them for Homeschooling.
INSTEAD OF TELLING EVERYBODY ELSE WHAT TO DO, WHY DON'T YOU GET INVOLVED WITH YOUR CHILDREN'S SCHOOL TO MAKE IT BETTER.
HYPOCRIT - LEAVE US ALONE AND TAKE CARE OF YOUR BUSINESS ON A LOCAL LEVEL!!!
Maybe it will be in the end, but for now it was designed to jack up the cash flow with mandatory buying of coverage by everyone that’s high priced, replacing lower priced coverage of some people that was cancelled.
HIGHER PRICED MANDATORY PRIVATE HEALTH INSURANCE COVERAGE IS AT THE CORE OF THE OBAMACARE INDIVIDUAL MANDATE. WHO WOULD GET ALL THAT EXTRA MONEY PEOPLE WERE SET TO PAY OUT AT THE START OF 2014? IT WOULD HAVE BEEN PRIVATE HEALTH INSURANCE COMPANIES.
