I'm tired of people getting in trouble for expressing their opinions, popular or not. A person should say what they believe, and we should support their right to say it, whether we disagree or not. This is America. Then again, I don't own a company that depends on revenue generated by quirky Louisiana duck hunters, who look like ZZ Top and believe homosexuality is wrong and Southern blacks were a lot happier back in the good old days.

I never said they were the same, I said it is not a ffreedom of speech issue. I said that back then and I am saying it now or I am not honest. That said I think A&E should be punished for stupidity like the. Chicks were.
it’s discrimination
Phil should file a claim based on religious and sexual orientation discrimination
Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 (Title VII), which prohibits employment discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, or national origin. SEC. 2000e-2. [Section 703]
(a) Employer practices
It shall be an unlawful employment practice for an employer -
(1) to fail or refuse to hire or to discharge any individual, or otherwise to discriminate against any individual with respect to his compensation, terms, conditions, or privileges of employment, because of such individuals race, color, religion, sex, or national origin.
Phil did NOT make this statement on A & E’s time or set. It was made in the context of personal religious beliefs and had nothing to do with AE. I would sue the hell out of them and block every rerun as well as the new episodes.
The only ones who fired the Dixie Cs was their fans -and that is their right. We don’t owe anyone patronage.
He also included adulterers in with that list of sinners who won't inherit the Kingdom of God. For every one homo or sheep shagger, there is probably thousands of adulterers. Where's the outrage from them?
I want a bumper sticker with your quote on it!
” HiTech RedNeck wrote:
“well the God of the rednecks is bigger than the devil of the deviates.””
These bastards are paraphrasing, what I think is a beautiful statement.
PR: “Were they happy? They were godly; they were happy; no one was singing the blues.”
He is saying that SINCE they were “godly people”, they were happy.
I stand with Phil on this, he’s a godly man who is doing his level best to educate the millions of morons running loose in this country as to what TRUE happiness is and through whom it comes. Jesus Christ.
Alex, how are you determing that Phil is in violation of his contract? That quote doesn’t support it.
In fact, I would say Phil isn’t in violation of a “morals clause,” and not because he stood up for traditional morals. Instead, he held heterosexuals and drunkards to the same standards in the quote from Corinthians. That quote was actually Paul’s critique and not Phil’s.
If I quote someone else and source that quote back to the work, how am I the one insulting anyone?
Phil does say he can’t understand how a guy can want poop on his privates, but he says ‘sin often doesn’t make sense.’
Exactly, Mr. Robertson talks in “bullet” form a lot...truncated sentences, succinct, but straight to the point.
He doesn’t “fill” his statements with useless words...
God Bless Mr. Robertson and the Robertson family for their steadfastness in the face of this vile and despicable onslaught against their character by the pro sodomites.
Phil did not make the quote on the show. It was in GQ magazine, which I am sure you already know. What he said in an interview was his personal opinion (Freedom of Speech) and really none of A & E’s business. We now have media Nazis.
After mulling this over, I agree with you. A & E had right to dispense with an employee...and of course, we have a right not to watch their heterophobic, religion-hating network.
She and current CEO Nancy Dubuc are the antithesis of all that is good in America. They are preening New York elitists who cynically made a fortune off the Robertsons while laughing behind their backs at the antics of "yokels".
Maybe the Robertsons should launch their own outdoor sports channel. They couldn't do worse than the Sportmans Channel and Outdoors Channel, both of which feature endless iterations of one guy or another in head-to-toe camo whispering to the camera while sitting in a blind and waiting for a "monster buck" to come by. Zzzzzzzzzz.
Actually, the controversial thing he said was not his own, but Paul’s.
The only thing attributable to Phil was his comment stating ‘poop on your privates made no sense to him, but that sin often didn’t make sense.’
No it isn’t. Freedom of Speech means the government can’t punish you for what you say....It doesn’t protect you from consequences from your employer.
And employers should be able to fire people at will for any reason.
A&E is dispicable. I’m done with them regardless of what they might do at this point.
Ditto, but we have the right to boycot them. I hope they go belly up.
Exactly, let the marketplace determine it, not the government.
Purely an educated guess. I'd bet that the rights to the show are owned wholly by A&E, that each member of the family is under contract for a certain number of episodes, and that Phil's contract includes some kind of "don't embarrass the network" clause.
Either that, or this is all a publicity stunt designed to increase ratings for the about-to-begin fourth season, which I wouldn't put past them.
Yesterday on PMSNBC they were making fun of how “stupid” Phil Robertson was, basically saying “this guy is not a rocket scientist, he made a duck call and he’s made money off it”.
Apparently these morons have no idea that Phil Robertson has a Masters Degree in History and was a high school teacher for years. Dumb he is not.
