More than a quarter of the Senate defied President Barack Obama on Thursday by introducing legislation that could raise sanctions on Iran, and compel the United States to support Israel if it launches a pre-emptive attack on the Iranian nuclear program.
The bill, sponsored by 13 Democrats and 13 Republicans, sets sanctions that would go into effect if Tehran violates the nuclear deal it reached with world powers last month or lets it expire without a long-term accord. The measures include a global boycott on Iranian oil exports within one year and the blacklisting of Iran’s mining, engineering and construction industries. …

I think that they are saying the bill had 26 “sponsors” evenly split between D’s & R’s. I don’t think they’ve taken a vote, but you can bet Harry Reid will do everything in his power to derail the vote.

Sanctions were never going to stop Iran anyway. War is inevitable and will begin any day now.
I don't know. Sanctions had worked to the point that Iran's economy was down 75%. This was the exact wrong time to begin talks even according to many Dem Senators.
Dem Menendez said the WH was "fear mongering". It will be interesting to see how many Dems rebel vs. Obama in the vote.

President Barack Obama has deployed a small military contingent to South Sudan to help bolster security at the U.S. Embassy amid escalating violence in the fledgling African nation.
