RE :”Republicans, the organized party, have made a clear decision not to fight the marriage fight. Without institutions, all we have is ad hoc activity.”

I don't exclusively blame the elected Republicans in the blue states, they get elected by those who buy the gay rights crap. If Dems took their jobs away it wouldn't have helped stop this.

I dont hear hear/read arguments against gay rights that are designed to convince others.

Democrats used the winning arguments : That these people were born this way and if we deny them marriage we are punishing them for who they are, like *we* did the Blacks, Jews,Hispanics, women, in history.

The few Republicans who argued against it just argued : "Well, I believe that ..."

That will not win.

I do think a lot of the problem is due to the fact our side blindly accepts the "born this way" BS that they came out of the womb attracted to other men's butts and can never change that fact.

I talked to some "open lesbian" the other day who had been loudly championing gay "rights" for all the years I've known her, now apparently she's fallen for some guy, gotten pregnant, has "gone through a lot of changes" and is "no longer gay". Of course she's pissed when I brought up the "born that way" BS and tried to talk to her about it. Civil rights, my @$$. You don't see black guys turn into asians one day.

That these people were born this way

That's interesting considering these same people don't believe you are a certain gender based on how you are born - you can fully developed male genetically and anatomically but really be a woman trapped inside of that body.

Yes, we’re talked about this before.

Our side (even the “good people”) rarely offerers any counter argument beyond a religious appeal (which is completely non-effective on anyone who is not religious).

“I believe it’s wrong” or “The bible says it’s wrong”. Isn’t gonna change anyone’s mind. Certainly not now.

Meanwhile the left utilized an effective propaganda operation designed to emotionally appeal to people who may not care so much about this stuff.

You gotta fight fire with fire.

what does any of this mean? In Conn., the House was 114-37 before 2010, so the elected Republicans barely existed. What Republicans got elected because they were pro-gay?

The DEMS got to 114 due to the following:
DEMS got re-elected 52% to 48% after voting along with the gay marriage agenda for several years ... in blue-collar middle-class districts with much opposition to gay marriage ... the GOP knew well that if they attacked these legislators in a mailing on the marriage issue, they could be beaten ... the half of the population that opposed gay marriage felt strongly about it and were angry ... and many are DEM voters ... and the half that supported gay marriage are largely ambivalent. The GOP state central and state party run out of Hartford, however, did not want to create a backlash against gay marriage ... they did not want to build their future on a foundation that included the religious right. In fact, there were a few instances, where the DEM incumbent had been 'no' on gay marriage and the GOP recruited an opponent who was pro-gay and attacked the incumbent on the issue!
