Whereas my heart strings can be pulled for a cancer patient too, private establishments are permitted their own dress codes. Men will remove their hats when in service at the church I attend, cancer or not. Those too unhealthy to comply (or too vain to comply) may certainly request a pastoral visit at a place of their choosing. It's a slippery slope once patrons are allowed to dictate policy.

Does your church have a specific, written dress code that says this?

Really?

What denomination?

This wasn’t church.

The restaurant certainly has the right to have a dress code, but they should post it before asking someone to leave because of it.

This was extremely poor behavior on the part of the restaurant.

My restaurants were 5 star French, with strict dress code.. I would not have enforced a code on a medical patient.. However I made Billy Martin, and Mickey Mantel remove their Cowboy hats before seating them..

Martin was the GM of the New York Yankees, and who doesn’t know Mickey Mantel.. Martin said, “Do you know who I am?”.. I said yes sir I do, he asked if I still wanted him to remove his hat, and I say YES I DO, Mr. Martin, and Mr. Mantel as well..

He then said if that was the way it was, he was going to leave.. I asked if he needed a Taxi, or did he have transportation? They walked out..

What’s the policy regarding seeing eye dogs?

No slippery slope - exceptions for medical condition or disability. Zero tolerance is just a neat way of saying, “I am without discernment”.

Morton's had their dress code posted in the restaurant. It did not include the prohibition for wearing hats.

I thought about the restaurant's prohibition and came up with a different take on it. Maybe there was a reason the manager wanted it removed. Perhaps it was the hat's similarity to the Jewish yarmulke (or kippah) which is worn when they pray, study, and eat.

Perhaps to avoid any kind of conflict from the wearing of the yarmulke, the manager took the prerogative to prevent anyone from wearing any head covering. It is a symptom of the intolerance in our society.

DEFINITELY NOT a church that I'd want to attend. More concerned about appearances than ministering to those who need to hear the word of our Lord!

Your church sounds like a group of pompous legalistic Pharisees. I suggest that you re-read the new testament, repent, and do your best to establish a personal relationship with Jesus.

I’m actually stunned anybody could make such a comment.

Let me ask you this. What if this guy said you know what I think I will call Americans With Disabilities Act and file a complaint. Where would this of went had they became involved ? You might recall back in May 2013 A disabled Army veteran in Houston at Motel 6 filed a lawsuit for their pools do not have a fixed pool lift or other acceptable means of entry for disabled persons. What would happen if the Americans With Disabilities Act,stepped in started asking questions of why were they demanding notes from dr’s that indicates what his medical condition is ?Should Mortons be given assess to someones medical file about what their medical condition is in the form of a note/letter ? Listing all his medications and their side effects ? Listing in detail what chemo does and does not do ?Should his medical information be made for public consumption ?
