RIO DE JANEIRO (AP) — National Security Agency leaker Edward Snowden wrote in a lengthy "open letter to the people of Brazil" that he's been inspired by the global debate ignited by his release of thousands of National Security Agency documents, and that the NSA's culture of indiscriminate global espionage "is collapsing."

I’ve had several dealings with FISA and know they understand that FISA is just so the government can say they had a warrant. The only litmus test they use is, “Can this be overturned in a public court?” That’s it.
It is critical for conservatives to know that the NSA is *not* alone in conducting 4th Amendment violating surveillance against the American public.
The FBI used to use a system called CARNIVORE, to monitor all email and electronic communications, but because of the public outcry broke it into subsystems that are FAR more powerful and invasive. The largest of these subsystems is called NarusInsight, made by Narus, a wholly owned subsidiary of Boeing.
The FBI and Secret Service also have access to the commercial systems data stream, based in CALEA, the Communications Assistance for Law Enforcement Act (1994), which creates back doors in communications and Internet companies, allowing federal agencies to monitor all telephone, broadband internet, and VoIP traffic in real-time.
DHS runs ADVISE (Analysis, Dissemination, Visualization, Insight, and Semantic Enhancement), a massive data mining system, that takes vast amounts of surveillance data and tries to link it together. (Thus proving that you are just five degrees away from Kevin Bacon or Osama bin Laden.)
DHS also runs 72 “fusion centers”, where data from numerous government agencies, including the CIA, Department of the Census, FBI, the Pentagon, HHS, Education, and Depts of “you name it”, are all shared, guaranteeing that vast amounts of totally bogus and worthless data about you are not just shared, but copied perfectly. “Our records indicate that you are a 103-year-old black woman. You cannot prove otherwise.”
PRISM - Finally the NSA gets involved. (PRISM is a government codename for a data collection effort known officially as US-984XN.)
The fella indicated Snowden should have gone to his direct reports/superiors to express his concerns. If that did not give results, Snowden should have gone to his congressman and claimed whistleblower status.

The thing that struck me so forcefully the first day I heard this, was that Snowden would have been able to see who was dirty or clean in all three branches of government. He DID NOT FIND ONE PERSON that would be clean and trustworthy at the top of the Executive, Judicial or Congressional branches. Sort of takes one’s breath away.

Punishing Snowden is a great way to discourage anyone else from coming forward to warn us when they find out about secret federal government tyranny and constitutional violations.
So many people inside the government knew and looked the other way. Snowden risked everything to tell the American people the truth. He’s a hero.
Except the judge delayed his verdict and instead offered his opinion because he believes the gov’t will appeal. So, AFAIC, it was a big, fat, nothing burger.
Of course if he does make a deal he will wind up dead in an "accident".

True enough. Personally, I'm calling it an overall win for the American people. I care not what his motivations are. Ultimately, throwing light on the "national security" apparatus is good for us.
Read an article this morning in regards to the courts ruling on NSA spying likely unconstitutional.

WOW! Now that's F’d up right there. Here's the founder of Judicial watch, attempting to protect the American people against an out of control gubbamint...and he gets intimidated by the NSA.

I knew some people in the USSR who were targeted by spooks just to send a message.
Back then they would break into the target’s home without a trace and do subtle things that only the target would notice. Swapping silverware, moving furniture, etc. Just to show they know everything about you and can get you any time.

I dunno. This Snowden feller is a DANGEROUS reactionary. One of his colleagues told us that Snowden used to keep a copy of the Constitution on his desk at work...
Nah. Reid & O**** just got done stacking the DC Courts of Appeals, where the injunction is being appealed.
At least the NSA will be at least weakened.
Don't forget to wipe your bum with the copy of the Constitution that Snowden keeps around, urinate on it, and then burn it.
