Climate change expert's fraud was 'crime of massive proportion,' say feds
NBC News ^ | Dec. 16, 2013 | Michael Isikoff

The EPA’s highest-paid employee and a leading expert on climate change deserves to go to prison for at least 30 months for lying to his bosses and saying he was a CIA spy working in Pakistan so he could avoid doing his real job, say federal prosecutors.

Follow @NBCInvestigates John C. Beale, who pled guilty in September to bilking the government out of nearly $1 million in salary and other benefits over a decade, will be sentenced in a Washington, D.C., federal court on Wednesday. In a newly filed sentencing memo, prosecutors said that his lies were a "crime of massive proportion" that were “offensive” to those who actually do dangerous work for the CIA.

Beale’s lawyer, while acknowledging his guilt, has asked for leniency and offered a psychological explanation for the climate expert’s bizarre tales.

Can anyone think of an appropriate analogy for this request??

Sure, Charlie Manson never hurt anyone either.

The much bigger fraud is that the EPA is trying to convince us that AGW is real! In fact, this guy is relatively harmless in the big picture, actually downright helpful since he wasn’t actively involved in trying to perpetuate the multi-trillion dollar scam of AGW.

We’d be much better off if most “climatologists” were following his lead.

I don’t need no steeenkin’ analogy. (not being personal) I’ve said for years that most of the EPA is a fraud. Given the chance to do an audit I’m pretty sure I could prove most of the folks who “work” there are frauds because it is so easy to disprove their perennial claims of the sky falling disaster scenarios. The damage they do by making stuff up is endless and back breaking. They are as good a place as any to start cutting back feral govamint and we need a presidential candidate who is willing to say so.

Accountability for thee and not for me...

The ONLY way to put a dent in this BS of the Fed takeover of all liberties is to defund the beast using any end every means possible. Take food stamps, go on disability, if you work for the Feds - retire early, take every tax deduction possible... at this point, why is it OK to fund a criminal enterprise?

I am not so sure- he was the LEADING- EXPERT!!
I am sure if us freepers went even deeper -we would find
all sorts of environmental garbage nonsensense from this guy- not showing up for a year?! telling everyone he
works for the CIA!? phantom trips (really visiting in laws and taking vacation)— I think some conservative reporter
finally took 2 minutes to investigate - and found a HUGE
pile of crap on this looooser- so they have to get rid
of him.

I did a job as a helper where we had to meet some gov’t employee. Some manager type. He was never in (for three days). Finally got another guy to help us. He said the manger went to his office in the morning, turned on his computer and left. Came back at 5 pm after working his other consulting job, and turned off his computer and lights.

I didn’t believe it, but now I’m guessing it was true.

Back around 2001....my old company...a Fortune 500 company, came to hire this guy at around $100k a year for a business and government contract. The place of work was in Fairfax, VA.

Across the street was another building, with another Fortune 500 company, who did similar business.

At some point, unknown to my company...this guy was offered a contract position with the 2nd company. He accepted, but required them to accept him not showing up until 10AM in the morning. They agreed, but never grasped that he was NOT leaving his old company.

So he’d show up at work at my company...work three hours, and then shuffle off to a “break” and lunch (which was three hours). He’d show back around 1PM, work two hours....then quietly disappear for the rest of the day, while at company two....staying there until 7PM.

For roughly a year, this went on. One day...one of my companies managers was at the front of the building and observed this guy walking out and going to the second building. He asked questions. It took about three days for them to finally get around to figuring the whole scheme at that point. Both company A and B management met, and both decided at the same time to fire this guy. Both made pretty negative comments over his ethics and I’m not sure what happened to the guy after that.

Most of us who heard the story a year or two later....admired the guy for being inventive and hard-working....he was putting twelve hours a day...between two companies. The problem was that he was charging both for the same hours.
