The New York Amsterdam News reports Access.1 Liberal Talk 1600 WWRL (NYC) will drop its format and flip to a Spanish language music format on January 1.
WWRL currently features a mix of of Talk focusing on the local African-American community and Liberal Political talk. The station features a local morning show hosted by Mark Riley as well as syndicated hosts Ed Schultz, Thom Hartmann, Randi Rhodes, Phil Hendrie, and Alan Colmes. Riley confirms the format change and end of his show on his blog.
No further details on the new format have been revealed.
Hey they will be serving the community with the new format—Spanish language, especially for the “undocumented aliens”
who have settled in Gotham. EBT radio, everything free in A-mer-i-ca!
They pulled this in Atlanta with WGST 640AM Talk in Atlanta. One Friday, they went Mexican at sundown and never stopped or mentioned why.
That lasted a few months and they are now back at “Talk”....they can suck on their “Talk” for all I care.
from NY Amsterdam News. Lib talk continues to circle the drain.
The station gave employees the news on Friday via email and phone calls. Employees informed the AmNews that the station is citing low advertising revenue coming in as a factor for the change. All current programming will be off the air.
WWRL is home to several progressive Black radio talk shows including The WWRL Morning Show with Mark Riley, All Things New York with Rennie Bishop and The Armstrong Williams Show.
Riley said he learned the news Friday afternoon and wasn’t surprised. He told the AmNews that the station was showing the signs far before the announcement.
I knew there were trying to a roll out Spanish-language formatted stations about the country, he said. The nature of the business has changed so dramatically. They just dropped a handful of progressive radio stations across the country. It’s part of a trend.
In fact, Spanish-language programming is progressive programming, and will “win over” more leftists than some ranting black Marxist ever will.
Whats spanish for “HA!”
“WWRL currently features a mix of of Talk focusing on the local African-American community and Liberal Political talk.”
Boy, I’ll bet that one’s a fun station to listen to.
¡JA!
IOW not able to get sponsors for their left wing drivel!
Liberal talk format radio being replaced with Spanish speaking programming. The left is always pushing amnesty and open borders down our throats and telling us to keep quiet about the large numbers of illegals coming from Mexico and Central America. Now the liberals are being pushed out of the way to accommodate the large Spanish-speaking audience. Gotta love the irony, and that it’s NYC where this is happening makes it even more sweeter. Hey New York lefties how do you like that smackdown?
This is why traditional broadcast media like television and radio have become increasingly targeted at low-income demographics.
Once again proving that you CAN’T SELL AD TIME to pitch to people who HATE CAPITALISM.
some real crappola personalities getting the ole heave hoe from this rag station.
Yes; the prog talk had been on 1190 before then got sent to 1600 and now espanol...another irony, liberals who complain about the evils of capitalism...ON THEIR EXPENSIVE I-PADS...
But companies great and small won’t advertise on these stations. (There’s always NPR though...)
Liberals talk, nobody listens. All the more reason they have to indoctrinate our children through “progressive” (that’s commie to you and me) education! Homeschool if you can; if you can’t, monitor what crap they’re teaching closely and loudly object to it.
Fun? I think "scary" might be more appropriate.

When did Armstrong Williams pass for a progressive radio show?

Not surprising no one is CAPITALIZING on the opportunity to profit by advertizing on MARXIST programming.
