Then it won't be inhabited, won't it?
The notice seems redundant, if it truly is uninhablitable.

“According to WFTX-TV, the notice cited international property maintenance code which said the property is not safe to live in.”
From the link. An International property code? So any house in the world without running water and electric is unlivable? Thats a good part of the world.
Don’t think there is any more here than the city condemning her house because the woman doesn’t use/have running water and electricity. Don’t see how it is any of their business, but probably some code/permit thing.
I was exercising my First Amendment rights of free speech in discussing living off the grid.
Lady, if you just lived off the government they wouldn’t be bothering you! They are not going to stand by and let some uppity citizen-wannabe declare her independence from everything and get away with it. Declaring independence is tantamount to treason from the government’s view.
I’m surprised they didn’t send in a SWAT team, shoot her, and her dog!
“doesnt use/have running water and electricity. Dont see how it is any of their business”
She is living environmentally sustainabily. Isn’t that what they want??
Dunno, but the (real) Amish live off the grid, in houses.
Maybe if she didn’t have a dog they would have brought
one to be shot.
“Living off the grid” means different things in different places. How was she handling her human waste? If she had no water it might be hard. Especially if she is in a residential development.
How many Amish houses would fall under the category of “uninhabitable”? I once visited a farm in South Dakota that had no plumbing or indoor bathroom. Luckily I didn’t stay for long.
Going to the outhouse at -20 is a hair raising experience.
At least you know the spiders aren’t gonna bite your dangles when you sit down.
The whole liberal/democrat/commie party is more at odds with itself than the Republicans: The Enviros are certainly on a different course than the bureaucrats pestering this woman and the auto industry (unions) and the hollywood and bill gates-types are at odds with the Occupiers and other unions (coal) are also at odds with the Enviros. There are the Enviros on one hand wanting to hang the clothes on the line and the permit hounds making it impermissible.
I don’t know how they still manage to elect one candidate en masse.
better not tell the folks in Africa, India, and China about that.
hehe
It’s a pre-written text that any code-writing unit of government can use without writing something from scratch.
There’s lots of stuff like it so self-important small-town busybodies can get on councils and harass their neighbors.
My 8 ft x 12 ft shack. No running water. No grid elektrikity. You will notice the high speed data link in the upper right corner of the shack. 10Mb/sec.
They can choke on their rules.

yup
I’ve known several people who lived without electric or running water. One guy had squirrels living up stairs but he didnt care.
Another was bit by a rattlesnake in his kitchen. I thought he might be taking it too far.
I already use those utilities strictly on an as-needed basis - and I mean STRICTLY.
“There are the Enviros on one hand wanting to hang the clothes on the line and the permit hounds making it impermissible.”
HA! You got it! Total government leads to Micromanagement of people’s lives which inevitably results in incompatible regulations.
Just, let’s let people live their own lives. As far as possible given no harm to neighbors etc. and a clothes line should not be construed to harm neighbors!
