December 13, 2013, 01:42 pm Pelosi: GOP 'disrespects' women

By Mike Lillis Republicans in Congress have a general "disrespect" for women that's reflected in their legislative agenda, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi charged Friday, adding that she applauds the prospect of America having its first female president.

The California Democrat said the GOP's policy priorities – from reproductive health to the economy to the environment – are evidence they have little concern for the issues women care the most about.

"[It's] disrespect," Pelosi said in an interview with MSNBC's Alex Wagner that aired Friday afternoon. "Whether it's pay equity and raising the minimum wage, whether it's paid sick leave, or whether it's support for … child care in our country."

Pelosi said she's been warning for more than two decades that congressional Republicans are opposed, not only to abortion, but to the notion of family planning.

"People didn't really believe me until [2011] when Republicans took the majority [and] one of the first things they did was to say, 'We're going to shut down government rather than fund Planned Parenthood,'" she said. "They've told me over and over again that they're not for family planning, domestically or internationally. It's a stunning thing."

Her comments came a week after House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) conceded that Republicans need to work harder to cater to women – constituents and candidates alike.

"Some of our members just aren't as sensitive as they ought to be," Boehner told reporters last week in the Capitol.

His remarks coincided with reports that the National Republican Congressional Committee has been counseling Republican staffers on how to run more effective campaigns against female opponents.

Pelosi, the first female Speaker in the country's history, has long-advocated for a greater role of women in politics. But she suggested Friday that the hurdles to success are much higher, particularly at the highest ranks.

"You know one thing for sure: If you're a woman and you're effective, you will be a target," Pelosi said. "It isn't a problem for me, because I care more about being effective than I care about being a target. But it is a problem when I'm trying to attract other women to run."

Pelosi also cheered the notion that the country might see its first female president in Hillary Clinton.

"I always thought that we would have a woman president long before Congress would recognize that women should lead the way here, because the American people are way far ahead of Congress in terms of recognizing the leadership of women in our country and the desire to have a woman president," she said.

"And now we have the prospect, and that's a great thing."

“Does this crap even still work? Does the race card still work?”

Yes, and yes. I don’t know what to do about the race card, but the GOP would win big if they’d kill off this idiotic “War on Women” mantra. It’s not that hard if they’d bloody try.

Sure, LIBERAL women will never vote GOP, but Bush won 48% of the women vote ... it shows that the GOP could stop losing votes to brain dead slogans if they’d simply grow a spine and fight this stupid nonsense.

Of course, a GOP landslide isn’t that big of a deal if it doesn’t involve conservatism. I simply mention GOP as its *supposed* to be the antithesis of the Democratic Party.

Does Nancy Pelosi EVER say anything that isn’t totally stupid? It’s almost as if the skin on her face has been pulled so tight that it has cut off the circulation to her brain.

She is truly the Queen of Hearts.

As a woman who disagrees with her on every issue, I am highly offended that she plays the sex-card and has the audacity to claim that HER positions represent all women!! SHEESH!

There are NO WOMEN’S ISSUES — SHEESH — there are issues which some men and some women agree with, and issues which some women and some men DISAGREE with. SHEESH!

How long are we as a nation going to listen to this claptrap without pushing back and calling them out on it, each and every time they say it!?!

Pelosi supports abortion on demand and half of those people aborted are women.

Just look at how much disrespect came from Republicans like Ted Kennedy, Filner, Clinton, Weiner, Spitzer, Jesse Jackson, and Condit. The GOP shouldn’t tolerate party members like them because of the way they treat women, including their wives.

I don’t believe I heard her comment on the subject of female mouths and excrement, such as was in the news lately.

Tell me again how different the GOP is from the Democrats, and why I should support them.

As a side note to this thread, please consider the following. Although patriots have this problem as well, Nancy Pelosi’s vision of a female president reflects that she’s oblivious to the federal government’s constitutionally limited powers.

If Nancy was really FOR Women’s Rights, she wouldn’t demand that all women remain on the Democrat plantation and scare them with feminazi “WAR on Women” rhetoric.

Diversity of thought is TRUE diversity.

Libtards called Sarah Palin a C&NT. NOW was silent. Nannyboi was silent.

FUNP.

Working definition of “women’s issues” -
being able to fornicate like men with no consequences
and
...
well, that’s about it.

The democrat war on women (government sponsored abortions via Planned Parenthood) looks to be primarily on black and hispanic women in New York City and Texas:

82 Percent of Abortions in NYC, 64% in Texas Were on Black or Hispanic Babies

The report reveals that a majority of Black or Hispanic babies were aborted in New Jersey (55.9 percent), the District of Columbia (64.8 percent) and Georgia (73.2 percent). In New York City alone 81.9 percent of the babies aborted were Black or Hispanic while in the state of Texas 63.7 percent were Black or Hispanic an increase from 2009.
