One of the Obamas' two dozen Christmas trees arrives.
You may remember earlier this year that President Obama, in a fit of pique over Congress actually allowing his sequester cuts idea to take effect, had White House public tours canceled to save lunch money.
During the later partial government shutdown, he ordered national monuments "closed," even though most are open-air.
Now, comes holiday season in the Obama White House. Every president entertains there, though the Obamas showed no shyness about frequent lavish celebrity galas even as millions of fellow Americans struggled during the recession's highest unemployment.
Every president decorates the White House for these holidays. But many presidents tend to stay put during this month to allow Secret Service and other staff to spend time with their families. The Obamas choose instead to make the nine-hour flights to Hawaii with family and staff. And the nine-hour return trip.
Air Force One costs about $182,000 to operate for every flight hour, or just under $1.64 million each way, a bargain after the family's $100 million trip around Africa this past summer.
Last Christmas, you might recall the mini-furor over the Obamas' White House decorations. As the president spoke constantly and ominously of the nation's looming "fiscal cliff," the First Family decorated the White House with a grove of no less than 54 Christmas trees.

How magical!
I didn't know America-hating Muslims put Christmas trees up..........
Not many American families can afford to have 24 Christmas trees in their home and even fewer could have 54 Christmas trees as the Obama’s insisted on last year.
Moreover, I doubt the Bushes or the Reagan’s had more than one or two Christmas trees in the White House and I bet they actually paid for their Christmas tree.
And all this jetting off to Hawaii on AF-1 is also annoying as under Obama few if any American families can afford such an accommodation to fly to Hawaii for Christmas.
Obviously Obastard doesn’t like Christmas, or the trees.
24 Murdered trees. Not very green of him is it?
Do muzzy’s celibate Christmas? If not. why does he even need one tree?
He has to keep up the taqiyya until the Egyptian military fully exposes him and what he’s been doing to work on the “Muslim agenda” that he supports because he was and still is a Muslim - as he told the Egyptian ambassador privately in January of 2010 (and that the ambassador mentioned on Arab TV)...
I don`t object to the Husseins leaving the country on Air Force 1...I object to their coming back.
thrifty??
give me a break
Glad to see the annual trip to Hawaii for Kwanzaa is a go.
Wonder if all 2 dozen trees “arrives” like the one in the photo..
80 degrees, golf, Mai Taihere we come!
Did they put out the Manger scene?
Frankly, this borders on Obama Derangement Syndrome. We ought to focus on policy issues, not on “everything he does, from morning to night, is wrong, because he does it.”
I’d be a lot more upset if there were no Christmas trees in the White House. You can never have too much Christmas, in my opinion.
The other ones probably got sequestered by the Dept of Interior. They’ve got them in a fenced in area near the capital mall but you can’t look at them.
Id be a lot more upset if there were no Christmas trees in the White House. You can never have too much Christmas, in my opinion.
You're putting me on, aren't you? Are you posting this from the White House? You are, aren't you?
I hear there's a big bash there tonight.
Merry Christmas!
Only 24 Christmas trees?
But how many Kwanzaa kinaras will they have?
