GREENSBORO, N.C. — A mom says her 5-year-old son was left in a locked daycare van for three hours.
April Murphy’s son goes to The Academy of Spoiled Kids in Greensboro for after school care. On Wednesday Murphy was running late so she had a friend pick up her son from daycare.
“The friend got to the daycare and the daycare told him that my child was absent or had already been picked up for the day,” explains April Murphy, who says her son was left in a daycare van.

I’m surprised that the kid couldn’t open the door from the inside.
Everyone knows you can leave a kid out for more than three hours before they start to spoil.

What kind of a name is that for a child care facility? Is everything a joke now?
This happened to my daughter when she was in kindergarten.
I went to the bus stop to pick her up and she didn’t get off. I tried to flag down the driver as he took off, but he didn’t see me. I stormed back to the house and called the school and they said that she wasn’t there. After two hours of calling around (frantic police, school staff searching, etc), they found her sleeping in the back of the bus that was already parked for the day at the bus barn. The driver got into a ton of trouble for not clearing the bus after his route was done.
She’d fallen asleep and missed all the excitement.
I walked to school when I was 5 and could most certainly start a car and wreck it into wall by that time.
Opening a damn door was not a problem.

Child safety locks and other controls do make it a little more complicated.
