BEIRUT — The U.S. government has suspended deliveries of aid to Syrian rebels after an Islamist group overran the main warehouses where the supplies were stored, the U.S. State Department said Wednesday.
The cluster of warehouses in the northern Syrian town of Atmeh served as the chief conduit for supplies into Syria for the Supreme Military Council, the Western-backed body that oversees moderate rebel factions fighting in Syria.
At the time of the takeover, the warehouses contained U.S.-supplied food, medical kits, some communications equipment and several pick-up trucks, typical of the items the United States is sending under a $16.9 million program to provide nonlethal aid to the SMC, U.S. officials and rebel officials said. They also contained sizeable quantities of small-arms ammunition from an unknown source, according to an opposition figure close to the rebels who asked not to be named because the subject is sensitive.
On Friday, the Islamic Front, a new alliance of Islamist groups that is now the biggest rebel organization in Syria, took over the warehouses after convincing the SMC-affiliated rebels who guarded it that they were in danger of attack by a group linked to al-Qaeda. It is unclear, however, whether there ever was a threatened attack. Some rebel groups have charged that the warning was a ploy to secure the warehouses and their contents. . .

Ummmmm. I’m confused. I thought that by supplying the MB backed Syrian rebels, we were giving weapons/aid/equipment to the Islamists.
So we suspended distribution of supplies after they took all the supplies? is that what happened?

It is really sad that people cannot understand the simple concept of giving aid and comfort to the enemy.

Manpads, stingers and other high tech stuff conveniently omitted. Let’s see how many Israelis get killed using these items made in America and supplied by the Muslim Brotherhood’s man in the White House.
They were SUPPOSED to overrun the warehouse.
Stevens was SUPPOSED to be kidnapped.
Cartels were SUPPOSED to get US machine-guns, which were SULPOSED to be used in grisly, headlines blaming murders.
It is possible even that airliners from the unjust, imperial is USA are SUPPOSED to get shot down.

And how long are we suspending aid? One week? Two?
Last year, the government was sneaking guns to the Mexican drug cartels.
This year, the government is sneaking warehouse keys to islamists or texting them when they’re left unguarded and unlocked.
It didn’t take a genius to predict that this would happen. The pro-western rebels are a committee without ground troops.
