Per the Texas Tribune twitter feed: Republican Party of Texas confirms that @SteveWorks4You will run against @JohnCornyn in the GOP U.S. Senate primary. Story to come. #tx2014
I think Cornyn is toast. He did it to himself. He has been far too anxious to side with Obozo on some issues that count. He was seriously on the wrong side in Syria, I wrote him and on his response, I told him that someone who blowing smoke up his ...
Years ago Stockman ran against and beat long-term Dem congressman Jack Brooks.
Rafael would not be elected, IMO.
Being so close to NASA, our schools pushed reading, math and science, very good schools. We had many bright students since so many people were involved with NASA. The school nurse at one school where I worked was the wife of an astronaut - her office was right across the hall from mine. There was just a high level of educated people there. And that is where Stockman lives.
The way Obama has stomped on NASA, I feel sure he is not popular in that area.
“Wish I lived in Texashed get my vote.”
If you have any money, vote for Stockman by sending it to him. Cornyn has big money but so did Lt. Gov. Dewhurst and Cruz, the new man, beat him.
I just read Stockman lives in Clear Lake and that isn’t in the district you have outlined as Clear Lake is south of Houston down Hwy. 45. I wonder if what I read meant he was born/raised in Clear Lake, doesn’t live there.
I don’t know where he lives. I took the TX district 36 and searched for a map.
That’s what I found. It may be outdated.
Thanks for the ping!
He does live in Clear Lake. That area was redistricted in 2010 and it hooks in the southern part to include the Clear Lake Area. That is a strange line for a district.
“Rep. Stockman serves the people of the 36th Congressional District of Texas, which was created as a result of the 2010 census and includes the counties of Chambers, Hardin, Jasper, Liberty, Newton, Orange, Polk, Tyler, and portions
of southeastern Harris County.”
“The district is home to NASAs Johnson Space Center, the research and training facility for all manned space exploration and the location of the popular Mission Control Center. As a member of the House Committee on Science, Space and Technology, Rep. Stockman highlights the importance of a vigorous space exploration program to keep the U.S. at the forefront of space technology.”
You may be right. But I sure would like him in that office.
Filing period ended at 6PM. Cruz, Sr. is not running.

And here is a final list of Texas GOP Primary candidates for 2014:

” - - - Stockman is a highly recognizable name in some circles, and he looks to be a game-changer. The 57-year-old made waves earlier this year when he returned to the House where he previously served from 1995-1997 with his calls to impeach President Barack Obama. - - - - “
Must be a good guy as Politico hates him.

Steve Stockman bump. He IS the real deal AND it’s pretty likely he will be able to raise the funds necessary to run against cornpone. Damn shame cornpone lost his way after catching Potomac Fever, but catch it he did. I don’t think Steve Stockman is immune to the fever since it’s happened to some pretty good people over the decades, BUT he has as good a chance of anyone fighting off the disease.
I also live in Steve Stockman's district (TX-36). I'm disappointed he won't be our Rep. in the U.S. House after the 2014 election due to his decision to withdraw from the House race to run for the U.S. Senate. Stockman is a solid conservative and a good man. I will support him in the 2014 U.S. Senate TX primary with my time and money.
My greatest concern is Stockman waited so long to withdraw from the House race and the remaining Republican candidates running for TX-36 in the primary are weak (Phil Fitzgerald, a former judge, and John Amdur). I know nothing about these two men. TX-36 is quite conservative and it will be a tragedy if a Dem wins this House seat.

Thank you sir. I did not know that filing was over.
Let me ask you a question, where should Cruz Sr. be involved. He is a valuable asset to the GOP, if they will use him.
Every avg. Joe knows Cornyn is a RINO down deep.
STOCKMAN FOR SENATE
Yeah I heard about this last night...
There is going to be a huge political push back from this, as a lot of the establishment went to the mat for him to get him into the 36th district...
Now they feel like he is throwing that away for a longshot, and politically damaging run for a seat in the senate that haas a guy in there that has his own detractors, but has a warchest that puts his to shame...
I do not believe Steve Stockman has a chance in hell to beat Cornyn...Not that I would not support him in the effort...Cornyn needs to go, that is obvious...
I am interested in seeing how the rest of the week plays out on this...See who whines the most about it...
I think we’ll see a lot of whining from a lot of establishment republicans. people in his congressional district...Because they are going to have to scramble now to find someone to “write-in” for the 36th now because the filing deadliine was yesterday at 6pm...Unless someon has already filed to be on the ballot there...I have not seen that yet...
And that is extremely important...At this point...
