Among world leaders, Nelson Mandela had unmatched moral authority. When George W. Bush awarded him the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2002, he said, It is this moral stature that has made Nelson Mandela perhaps the most revered statesman of our time. Bush could have done without the hedge word perhaps. Mandela was by far the most revered statesman of our time. Every July 18th is Nelson Mandela Day. The United Nations declared it so, in 2009. Mandela was born on July 18, 1918. Yesterday, the great man died at 95.
The reverence the world feels for him has to do, in part, with the nature of his adversary: the white, racist apartheid government of South Africa. A Havel or a Sharansky could not achieve equivalent stature: Hatred of their adversaries is far less universal. White racism is held to be probably the greatest evil of our time, and Mandela was a lion against it.

I stopped at the first line.
This guy was the Ossama bin Laden of the 80’s
Ask the Zulu’s who were butchered with machetes and necklaced if they think Mandela has “moral authority”
I realised before “the firing” that NR was turning into a Gop-e pukefest, but the firing of Derbyshire for telling the truth sourced with statistics and links ensured that I’d never click on a link to them again. Thank God they never got a red cent from me.
“Sez who?”
The PC clowns who currently occupy the once valuable National Review
“However, Genocide Watch had no evidence that the South African government was encouraging these crimes or that they were organised by an organised hate group.”
Not even when Mandela sings “Kill the Boer, Kill the Farmer”??
He was pro-abortion.
I conclude from this editorial that National Review is now officially pro-abortion.
You can’t be “pro-life” and praise a pro-abort as having “moral authority.”
Same man, He never changed, just changed tactics.
In prison he refused to ever renounce violence.
There, fixed it. For reference:
Mandela was pro-abortion, pro-gay marriage, and a high-ranking communist
So Mandela and his supporters had no real reasons to oppose apartheid?
I remain unconvinced he changed at all. He was gifted with a persona that never actually existed. What change do you need to make, if you’re being heralded and gifted with the presidency of your nation?
As you can tell, I remain very skeptical of this man.
He ‘changed’ because he no longer had the Soviet Union to back him up.
What changed about him?
Seems to me he remained in place. Did he ever make an apology for his terrorism? He may have. I’m not aware of it.
He was considered to be a strong presidential candidate, to lead up the ‘new direction’. There was no need for terrorism at that point.
I think he got more than he ever bargained for. He didn’t need the USSR. He was going to be the nation’s leader.
Perhaps I’m seeing it all wrong, but according to some who had contact with him, he was a despicable old lout to the very end.
The Soviets focused on Africa starting in the 1950s, when they started importing African students and indoctrinating them at the university later called Patrice Lumumba University, while their agents in the Western media spread the lies about colonialism. At stake was international revolution, but more than that, Africa’s natural resources (D’UH!).
The other day I asked why you (we) know so much about this Steven Biko, and nothing about Stanislaw Pyjas. I asked knowing the answer which is that the Western MSM had by then been taken over by Soviet agents and useful idiots who decided who is to be a revered martyr and who is to not exist, and we all have been the victims of such policies and parrots singing mournful songs for those selectively chosen martyrs of class struggle. Don’t kid yourself.
Why apartheid and not the social structure in, say, Saudi Arabia, or in a hundred other countries which could easily have been called ‘evil’ and ‘unjust’. Who decided? Whoever did, you followed.
He was still a very bad guy: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10201074487772041&set=a.1024641023976.2004822.1463785459&type=1&theater
Not even when Mandela sings Kill the Boer, Kill the Farmer??
the whole article does go on to state that NOW they did find evidence that the black South Africa government is behind the Boer (white people) genocide in South africa

Redundant and defamatory to scum.
thanks
Amazing what a little pr can do for some scumbags image huh? Just look at the “lyin’ king”. Maybe they meant RIH.
