A Wrigleyville bar involved in the dispute with the Cubs over Wrigley Field renovations apologized Saturday for an offensive sign on its marquee making light of the Pearl Harbor tragedy.
Murphy's Bleachers tried to lure customers into the bar Saturday with a marquee that read: "Remember Pearl Harbor With Bombs and Kamikazes."

At least SOMEBODY remembered that the event ever took place and that its anniversary was yesterday.
I saw NOTHING on TV (news, shows, or otherwise) that recognized it.
I guess its still too soon.
“Other than that Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?” — that one is still okay.
Some of the professional “I’m offended” crowd must have been offended.
The media was all caught up in worshiping that Communist terrorist Mandela. Not even Dogpile web browser had anything. They usually have something like Memorial Day observance.
There was a great old joke, by Dean Martin I believe, that said, “Every December 7th Sammy Davis Jr. attacks Pearl Bailey. Everyone found it appropriate as humor in those days, but probably would not today because it has too few fs in it.
I must be sick because this makes me laugh every time:
I saw an infomercial for the Dean Martin Celebrity Roasts recently. There was a warning on the screen that the jokes may be deemed offensive to some viewers. I am not sure if the warning was sarcasm or an actual statement based on today’s society.
I have a conservative cousin who I don’t see often. Earlier this week, we got together for a meal and as we walked into the restaurant we saw the early stages of nonstop coverage. My cousin said ‘Who cares? he is a Commie terrorist! Margaret Thatcher was far more important and she didn’t get praised like this.” The cameras couldn’t get enough of the whitest, blondest women from what we could see.
Those roasts were humor at its best. I fit right into that slot, age wise.
A tragedy is when something bad and life changing occurs due to natural or accidental, neither of which the Japanese did on 7 Dec 1941
What they did was an atrocity
And I am much more offended at this slight, as always, on the part of the either ignorant, lazy or deliberately offensive journalist who either finds us worthy of such an atrocity or is too uncaring to use a frng dictionary
I think it’s funny that Abe still gave the place two stars, despite his complaint.
This was stupid in two ways. The first was in embracing the Japanese side because of existing drinks. The other was they could have created a whole bunch of new drinks for the American side, as a “patriotic honorarium”. While still not tasteful, it would not have been completely offensive.
The overall theme could have been Hawaiian, maybe even offering some food to match.
” The last time I’m sitting in the box seats!”
A. Lincoln
Indeed. Yet that infomercial is one of the funniest things you’ll ever see. What a cast of characters, a rockin good time. Tape it and see. Makes one appreciate how truly funny that generation was esp vis a vis today’s
phony “stars”
Tried to explain to the youngest stepdaughter's son about it.
Even tried telling him that his Great Grandfather helped save him and the rest of Us from speaking German/Japanese or maybe even existing.
All he wanted to do was watch MORE F'IN spongebob. I told him NO!
Waste of breath- he's following in his commie mommies (voted 2 times for zero and worships it) mind set being the little mush-brain he is, a real waste of a 10 year old mind.
Makes Me sad to say I've given up on them.
