A group of Salafites has issued death threats against teachers at an elementary school in Djerba, Tunisia, if they will not start wearing the Islamic veil within a week.

Some might complain that it’s unfair to call Salafis moderate. But I’m not being sarcastic. If the Muslim Brotherhood can be repeatedly referred to as a moderate group as well as many of the Salafist militias in Syria that aren’t Al Qaeda… that clearly isn’t a problem.

Wherever there are large numbers of political Islamists, a peaceful consensus with Western oriented secularists is not possible. In Egypt the policies of the deposed Mubarak are not only being reintroduced, but are being made part of the constitution. Modernity is not a given in the Muslim world and in the end may not be possible.

This will undoubtedly lead to some deaths in the next few weeks for examples with which to terrorize those that do not comply (and, so far, have not yet been killed).

How can a PTA do this when Christmas was made an official federal holiday on June 26,1870? Someone needs to educate that PTA member on the federal law.

In the link above it states that one of the rules is there be no reference made of Christmas or any other religious holiday. How on earth can you have a federal holiday yet be prevented from mentioning it?
