I didn't even know I had one of those, but I guess I do.

The eye will get poked out shortly.

I’m assuming this article is referencing computer webcams.

I wanna know if they are accessing mobile device cameras. My iPad and phone have cameras that face each direction and would imagine they’d be more plentiful and useful than a computers webcam.

I already guessed they could do that. The rumor is that with a new flat screen TV they can watch you while you watch it.

I live next to a spy school and an expensive NWO grad school very heavily into international stuff; translation, economic development, and “counter terror/non proliferation”.

And ALL the people studying the spooky stuff have their cams TAPED OVER, just like me.

Not if you don’t have a WebCam.

If they’ll activate the camera around, oh say, around O dawn thirty, they’ll get a good shot of me on the porcelain recliner in my “office”...reading Free Republic on my smart phone.

Every time I read one of these articles I think of John Roberts.

Low tech way of dealing with that - put a piece of bubble gum over it ... :-) ...

FBI can secretly activate a computer’s webcam to spy on an individual

I wonder if they can also see through the piece of duct tape.

“...has used that technique mainly in terrorism cases or the most serious criminal investigations.”

The operative word is “mainly”. Perhaps, Jim, you are one outside of “mainly” and they have checked out watching you eat Chinese food.

I got this laptop in August of 2011 when my other one bit the dust at a time I had to have one right then. Computer guy told me to buy a Toshiba as the ones they were making right then were good ones. So, I rush to the store where he sent me and in about 10 minutes chose this one. I just didn’t have the time to research computers right then.

The point is, I DON’T KNOW IF THIS COMPUTER HAS A CAMERA ON IT. One of you guys tell me where to look to find out.

I have mine covered with dark tape.

Does that do anything to stop this nonsense?
