Join a health care sharing ministry. These are voluntary, charitable membership organizations that agree to share medical bills among the membership. They function similar to insurance, and are probably the best alternative to conventional health insurance. There are four of them, at least that I know of. Three are open only to practicing Christians (Samaritan Ministries, Christian Healthcare Ministries, and Christian Care Ministry) while a fourth, Liberty HealthShare, is open to anyone who agrees with their ethical commitment to religious liberty. They operate entirely outside of Obamacares regulations, and typically offer benefits for about half the cost of similar health insurance. Members are also exempt from having to pay the tax for being uninsured.
FWIW, I signed up with Medi-Share and it was a little involved, but the processors were very helpful and my monthly payment is half what I used to be paying.
So this ACA mandate is to get people who didn’t have, couldn’t afford health insurance to pay for something they couldn’t afford in the first place. And pay a fine if they don’t. Then the media hypes all those people were saved from dying in the streets because they had no health insurance. Now they have to find a doctor or hospital that will take it.
BOOKMARK
I will be looking into a ministry when my current private policy expires next Dec.
I’m afraid they’ll be banned if too many people jump into them. That messes with Obama’s wealth transfer.

“How To Opt Out Of Obamacare”

Thank God, I did not have to read all of that.
Those of us that live offshore are not subject to ObumboCrap.
What good would that do?

I don't see how. They would have to ban all religious co-ops.
There is a built in exemption for Muslims.
In the meantime routine medical needs can be met with cash which is no different than what a person would pay with high deductible and out-of-pocket expenses under Obamacare policies anyway.
T hanks for great info.
No, there isn’t.
Welcome aboard. We’ve been with Medi-Share for a year now. I have had the same experience. Payments are about half of what I used to pay.
For later. Thanks!

Obama, the atheist, might very well do that.
Anyway, they do have a nice web site:
https://medi-share.org/ms/lp/medical-bill-sharing_11-1.aspx
If its something that makes sense and helps someone like me, there’s a good chance someone in government is trying to figure out a way to kill it.
Why wouldn’t everyone who formerly bought their own policy look into it? With enough advertising, I could see the market share of ministries eventually rival one of the private insurers.
(Laws don’t matter paranoia. I even check under my bed for Obama now.)

What they did to discourage this is set enrollment only from Oct. - Dec. for the next year. IOW, if something big happens in June you can't sign up for coverage until Oct at the earliest and then the coverage only starts in Jan.
