DETROIT, MI -- More than 200 protesters waved signs, bounced and shouted chants passionately in unison outside a McDonald's on and other nearby fast food restaurants on Seven Mile near the Lodge Freeway in Detroit Thursday.
Their demands: A $15 per hour minimum wage for fast food employees.
"Hold the pickles, hold the fries, make our wages super-sized," "We fired up, can't take it no more," and "What do we want? $15. When do we want it? Now," were among the chants.

More than 200 protesters, some current or former fast food employees, rallied for a $15-per-hour minimum wage for fast food employees outside a McDonald's restaurant on 7 Mile in Detroit Dec. 5, 2013.
Looks like Mickey D’s now know what/where/which “Restaurants” to close.
Shoot, with houses going for $1 in Detroit, that’s like getting paid 15 houses per hour. Seems a bit excessive.
The local franchise owners should try a week long experiment.
Give the workers $15 an hour for one week, and raise the prices commensurate with the wage. Then see how many burgers are sold.............
Wasn’t Detroit once a city?
????
These retards are “protesting” themselves right out of jobs. Raise the minimum wage to 15 bucks in Soetoro’s “fundamentally transformed Amerika” and the college kids will be taking all of these jobs. These high school dropouts better start learning how to pick strawberries and lettuce and find a new job before the GOOBers pass amnesty.
Maybe the bouncing is a Kwanza thing?
You can make $15 per hour. You just have to provide more value than that to your prospective employer.
RE: Detroit protesters demand super-sized $15-per-hour minimum wage for fast food workers
The City of Detroit is bankrupt. I guess this isn’t enough for these protesters. They want to bankrupt private businesses too... way to go jokers.
I have a friend who is a navy vet and has a degree and is an engineer who only makes $17.50 and hour. He is glad to have a job since he was out of work awhile.
These people are idiots.
The ironic part is 15 bucks/hr is about what the UAW 2nd tier makes these days.
The protest was organized by D15, a conglomeration of multiple organizations, including Service Employees International Union (SEIU) and the National Action Network (NAN)), founded in 1991 by Reverend Al Sharpton.
Anyone left in Detroit to even buy fast food ?
From Wikipedia:
Between 2000 and 2010 the city's population fell by 25 percent, changing its ranking from the nation's 10th largest city to 18th. In 2010, the city had a population of 713,777, more than a 60 percent drop down from a peak population of over 1.8 million at the 1950 census, indicating a serious and long-running decline of Detroit's economic strength
Hold the pickles, hold the fries, indeed. You aren’t worth what you’re getting now...so, put down your apron and hit the bricks.
Take a machine gun and shoot them all. Then replace them with people that will be more than happy to have a job.
How many of the marchers were Amish?
