Hypocritical NFL Bans Gun Rights Super Bowl Ad
Investor's Business Daily ^ | December 4, 2013 | IBD EDITORIALS

Politics Of Sport: While ads featuring violent movies and video games regularly appear on NFL broadcasts, pro football has banned an ad supporting the Second Amendment. The NFL is within its rights, since Item 5 in its prohibited list of Super Bowl ad categories includes "Firearms, ammunition or other weapons; however, stores that sell firearms and ammunitions (e.g., outdoor stores and camping stores) will be permitted, provided they sell other products and the ads do not mention firearms, ammunition or other weapons."

But the ad submitted twice by Daniel Defense does not sell firearms or one of the company's popular DDM4 rifles. Daniel Defense has a brick-and-mortar store, where it sells products other than firearms.

In fact, the ad does not sell anything. It's a visual paraphrase of the Second Amendment to the Constitution, which guarantees the right of individuals to keep and bear arms to protect their country, themselves, their property and their families.

The ad doesn't even mention firearms, but shows a father picking up the Sunday newspaper as a football game plays on the radio.

He goes inside the house, hugs his wife and looks in on his baby as his voiceover speaks of his responsibility to protect them and the house they live in.

I hope it does die, I’m disgusted with all of it.
To allow Bob the freakin moron Costas to yammer about gun control, you lost me.

To have barrycare commercials pumped into the Super Bowl and NOT allow this benign 2nd Amendment ad, well FU NFL, you belly crawling weak freaks. Damn this really really really angers me!

NFL will be dead soon. I’ve even stopped watching some of the Packers games this year and did other things. Prior to this year, you’d have to pry me away from a game with a crowbar

surely you jest......the NFL isn't even sick, and to intentionally pass up a Packer game borders on blasphemy!!!!

if you rush to confession right away, you may be forgiven.....don't count on it because Jesus Himself kind of favors the Packers....not that He would underhandedly aid them...

I tell you, I much more enjoyed watching Everton defeat Manchester United, and watching Luis Suarez score 4 incredible goals today, than anything I’ve seen from the NFL this year.

Hockey is my sport of choice. It is fast and there are no tribesmen on the ice, jumping, beating their chests and pointing fingers at the goalie

hockey is a sport???? I went to a boxing match once and a hockey game broke out!!!

there is absolutely no entertainment value in hockey....first of all you can never see the puck....much too fast for T.V., secondly, if someone doesn't like something, he hits someone else.....when they throw the ruffians out of the "sport" for their attacks on each other, maybe sane people will watch it rather than just Canadians.

I stopped watching NFL after Da Coach retired.

how about UN-superbowl sunday?

until the ad is allowed, no product advertiser gets a dime and

turn off your tv, satelite reciever, tivo, dvr etc. physically turn it off. It will hurt their ratings.

do SOMETHING else non-tv oriented.
