Just over two weeks ago, MSNBC host Martin Bashir delivered a harsh piece of commentary that culminated in the suggestion that someone should “s-h-i-t” in former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin‘s (R-AK) mouth. Bashir offered an abject apology on his next broadcast, but a chorus of critics continued to demand action against the host. After a reported “vacation” for the host earlier this week, Bashir announced, Wednesday afternoon, that MSNBC and Martin Bashir are parting ways.

Notice that MSNBC -- who are just as involved with this nastiness as Bashir is -- doesn't have to do anything. If they fired him, that would be an admission that what he did is wrong.

This way, MSNBC and NBC get off, scott free.

I’ll be much happier when he (it) sits on a very big garbage disposal - running, of course - and we get to see and hear the results.

Sorry to consistently be so negative, but it’s long past time that we treat liberals like the vermin they are.

I don’t care who you are or what your political persuasion is - as a news commentator/reporter, on the air, you have NO right to use obscene or quasi-obscene language in your commentary.

Good riddance to bad rubbish - Eric Sevareid is cheering from his grave ...

Don’t let the door hit you in the butt on the way out, jerk.

I'd like a piano to fall on his head on the way out.

How long before he’s hired by the Obama admin? By the DNC? By Organizing for Action? Will they wait a full week?

What if you used the acronym W.T.F. repeatedly or made jokes about "polls" being for strippers?

"He’ll probably wind up on Al-Jazeera."

He'll be working for Obama in the not-too-distant future. They take in all the wayward reporters.

The Left attacks no one as viciously as Sarah Palin. Why? Because she's one of the few that, like Reagan, gets straight to the heart of the matter and isn't distracted, like so many on the Right, by the attempted deflections, red herrings, viscous attacks, and the smoke and mirrors of the Left.

In my mind, Palin and the Tea Party with some possible other exceptions, are the only ones who keep their eye on the ball: the threat of big government and big taxes AND focusing on the free market as the best solution to most of our issues.

Martin Bashir: "After making an on-air apology, I asked for permission to take some additional time out around the Thanksgiving holiday.

"Upon further reflection, and after meeting with the President of MSNBC, I have tendered my resignation. It is my sincere hope that all of my colleagues, at this special network, will be allowed to focus on the issues that matter without the distraction of myself or my ill-judged comments.

"I deeply regret what was said, will endeavor to work hard at making constructive contributions in the future and will always have a deep appreciation for our viewers – who are the smartest, most compassionate and discerning of all television audiences. I would also wish to express deepest gratitude to my immediate colleagues, and our contributors, all of whom have given so much of themselves to our broadcast."

Translation: Being an abusive, sniveling political hack isn't particularly welcome even at MSNBC, and so I was summarily cashiered with the order to offer this ersatz statement of contrition on my way out. Which way to Algore's network, Current TV?

Exactly, this was written, edited, and vetted before being broadcast. This was not just a moment of idiocy. This was Bashir speaking from his heart and revealing who he really is.

I would be concerned for any women in his life. There is something very evil inside of him waiting to manifest.

Being employed by MSNBC, wasn’t Bashir already part of the administration? (sarc)
