Boehner Hires Immigration Reform Expert (She co-wrote the McCain-Kennedy amnesty bills)

U.S. Speaker John Boehner may be signaling he's willing to move on immigration reform by hiring an expert on the issue, a fellow Republican says.

Rebecca Tallent, director of immigration policy at the Bipartisan Policy Center in Washington, was set to start as a new Boehner assistant Wednesday, The Hill newspaper reported.

Former Gov. Haley Barbour, R-Miss., is co-chairman of the center's immigration task force. Barbour said Boehner's decision to hire Tallent was "affirmation of his strong desire to move legislation in 2014," the newspaper reported.

The Hill said Boehner, R-Ohio, often has expressed his commitment to immigration reform, but faced mounting criticism from reform advocates, including some Republicans, because of the House's inaction.

immigration reform would:

• Spur economic growth. Immigration reform would cause the U.S. economy to
grow an additional 4.8 percent over a 20-year period, including 2.8 percent in the
first decade (as measured by gross domestic product, or GDP). Annual average
growth would be 0.24 percent higher, peaking at 0.35 percent in FY2019–FY2023.

• Reduce federal deficits. Cumulative deficits would fall by nearly $1.2 trillion over a
20-year period. About $180 billion of this reduction would occur in the first decade,
and $990 billion in the second decade.

• Jump-start the housing recovery. Immigration reform would dramatically
increase demand for housing units. This would increase residential construction
spending by an average of $68 billion per year over the 20-year period.

• Expand the labor force. By 2033, the labor force would be 8.3 million people
larger, an increase of 4.4 percent compared with the baseline.

• Offset aging of the workforce. After accounting for fertility, mortality, and
emigration, immigration reform would add 13.7 million people to the population by
FY2033. Just 6 percent of these people would be age 65 or older. By comparison, the
Census Bureau projects that 20 percent of U.S. residents will be 65 or older in 2030.

• Increase long-term wages. Wages would initially fall due to the large influx of
workers, but rise in the long-term. Real wages in FY2023 would be about 0.2 percent
below the baseline, but would be 0.5 percent higher than the baseline in FY2033.

Removing Boehner is the best immigration reform we can get IMO.
Doesn't the RNC and Republicans in general get it? We don't want the same-as-usual bull shit they've been acting out for a few decades with.
I don't care if their business donors need cheap labor, we need our country and the owners may get a low wage employee, then we get 4 kids at 15k a kid at 60k a year in our public schools eating up tax dollars. We will also see such people go on section, food stamps, the dole in general and will make lots of unreported tax money in the gray market with cash.

We have laws that need to be followed and Boehner needs to quit fixing this nation out of existence.

Maybe he was never what he presented himself to be in the first place. I've noticed that with many so called conservative Republicans.They slowly morph into collaborators with the communist Democrats. It is my belief that the Republican Party has been infiltrated by leftist of all stripes (Democrats, etc.) and has had its once conservative message and politics subverted and corrupted by the these frauds.

The only solution is another party. A solidly conservative, Constitution and individual liberty supporting party whose philosophy, aims and goals are clearly stated for all to see and hear. The Republican Party is just too corrupted to trust anymore.

I feel certain that the GOP is being run by people with leftist tendencies. Bush gave us a bunch of leftist crap with his buddy Teddy, he and the Republican White House made the federal government larger, more expensive, and more powerful, and gave ole Barry the tools for the NSA to monitor everybody, and the nominees after him, McCain and Romney, are both left-leaning RINOs.

The GOP was on the ball this week though - Boehner's new hire was this week's reason for me not to support the GOP. Normally, the GOP doesn't give me a reason until Thursday or Friday.
