U.S. Speaker John Boehner may be signaling he's willing to move on immigration reform by hiring an expert on the issue, a fellow Republican says.

Rebecca Tallent, director of immigration policy at the Bipartisan Policy Center in Washington, was set to start as a new Boehner assistant Wednesday, The Hill newspaper reported.

Former Gov. Haley Barbour, R-Miss., is co-chairman of the center's immigration task force. Barbour said Boehner's decision to hire Tallent was "affirmation of his strong desire to move legislation in 2014," the newspaper reported.

The Hill said Boehner, R-Ohio, often has expressed his commitment to immigration reform, but faced mounting criticism from reform advocates, including some Republicans, because of the House's inaction.

They need to start wearing political party logos. That’s the only way to tell them apart.

Boehner is trying to guarantee the DemocRATS a big “win” in 2014. Americans are pissed over ObamaCare so the ‘RATS are going to need all the foreign voters that they can get.

I honestly believe the GOPe is pushing immigration just to piss off Tea Party people. They(GOPe) are doing it out of spite and not for idealogical reasons. It is a show of force and power.

Looks like Jimbo nailed that one. The repubs that support amnesty should be VERY concerned themselves as they too are subject to the will of the people, or used to be when we had honest elections.

We shouldn’t even be fighting to ‘take back’ the GOP.

The answer is to grow the tea party into its replacement—and the sooner the better.

And if they do push and pass this in the House I’ll be one more conservative voter not voting GOP in November 2014. I’ll find somebody, anybody, to otherwise vote for. Damn them.

Why would they do that?

Almost all of them are all ready members of the Uniparty.

We have the Democrat Wing for Amnesty then the Republican one.

The thing that must be repeated by everyone is "No immigration reform while Americans are unemployed".

When you talk to anyone you need to ask them why Washington is contemplating brining in millions of low paid workers while Americans can't find jobs. Why are they extending the unemployment periods and then legalizing millions?

Yet I get these letters from the Republican National Committee signed by Boehner telling me how the Republicans support all that the Nation stands for and that they are fighting against the dastardly Democrats.

Unbelievable.

I sometimes write back what I think of them but they obviously don’t read what I—and likely, many others—tell them in response.

Were it not for Obama's health care debacle I would agree with you. But next Fall people will be voting out of fear and anger over what has happened to their health care. Including many who would typically vote Democrat. No doubt this is why Boehner feels safe in doing this.

GOP stop selling out America.

Bring back American jobs to America, and stop importing ever more people to work when our unemployment rate is over seven percent.

Put AMERICANS back to work now.
