The U.S. Air Force reportedly had cadets snitch on one another in an effort to root out rule-breaking. (U.S. Air Force Photo by Mike Kaplan/Released)
The United States Air Force reportedly has created a secret system of informants at its academy in Colorado Springs to snitch on fellow cadets who break the rules, in an attempt to curb drug abuse and combat sexual assault.
While those who join the Air Force pledge never to lie, cheat or steal, or "tolerate among us anyone who does, the service allegedly urged informants to deceive classmates, professors and commanders while gathering information to file secret reports aimed at exposing wrongdoing at the Air Force Academy, the Colorado Springs Gazette reports. One self-professed informant, Eric Thomas, 24, told the newspaper he was ordered by the Air Forces Office of Special Investigations to set up drug purchases, follow suspected rapists and to ultimately feed that information back to Air Force brass

We will not lie, cheat, or steal, nor tolerate those among us who do.
They’re going after Christians who witness to their fellow cadets - that’s what they need snitches for.
It’s come to this!
yes it has.
....until I hit 0-6
This reminds me of Junior high school. How juvenile things have become
This will create cohesion and loyalty in the ranks of AF officers, and help them to focus on their mission.
Collectivism: performing surgery with infected hands.
Thought they had an honor code?
It’s on-the-job training - the 0bama military will need its commissars.
I recently read Robin Olds’ memoirs (former commandant of cadets and a West Point graduate) and he focused on the simple meaning of words, not process, and legalities.
Certainly he had his share of drunken brawls in officer clubs, when he wasn’t being a fighter ace, and commander of other fighter pilots, and sometimes when he was doing those things.
I have no doubt that you’re right.
And, in the interim, if they’re not that bold just now,
they’ll just go after cadets who hold or express “homophobic viewpoints”.
That’ll really hurt unit cohesion. Everyone will be suspicious of everyone else.
Sounds like the old USSR’s use of political officers in their military units.
Back in my days, the Honor Code pretty much kept everyone in line.
This is what happens when “Leadership” gets co-opted. Damn glad I’m retired (and no slam on USAFA, truly fine outfit out there).
They must have informants if the cadets can’t conform to their own code of conduct. It’s an indictment of the culture - they’re a bunch of liars.
It’s one thing to expect Cadets to report those behaviors if they witness them. Quite another to recruit Cadets to actively go out and collect information from the fellow Cadets though spying or conducting misinformation. This is disgusting, but, not unexpected from this regime.
The very presence of unchallenged homosexuality within the ranks means that every service academy is currently in violation of their own Honor Codes. These should be changed immediately or the academies should be closed.
Very well put.
Senators McCaskill and Gilliabrand are working hard to destroy the Uniform Code of Military Justice and remove commanders from the discipline system. Since the JAG Corps will be left with little to do aside from drafting wills and powers of attorney, they will be converted into political officers - appointed by the Democrats and put in place to approve or veto any decision made by commanders.
Academy undercover cadets will have first dibs at these choice positions.
LOL!
