Turkey’s ban on Israeli flights could bring down El Al

More than a month after El Al sent a furious letter to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu complaining that Turkey was monopolizing the highly lucrative route between Israel and Turkey by banning Israeli airlines, Jerusalem has done nothing to change the outrageous situation, the airline’s CEO told The Times of Israel. Failure to tackle the issue could prove so costly as to bring down El Al, he said.

. . .

Air traffic between Israel and Turkey has soared by over 150 percent since the 2010 Gaza flotilla episode sent bilateral ties hurtling into the abyss. But only Turkey is benefiting from the increase: The total number of Turkish airline flights out of Ben Gurion Airport each week has reached a staggering 112. The total number of Israeli airline flights on the route: zero.

Which in reality is the desired effect, is it not?

Curious - Why would air traffic between the two countries soar when relations are so bad?

Obviously, Sultan Recep (Erdogan) is just helping his personal airline here:

Because the Islamasists in the government of Turkey want to hate Israel and shout ‘Death to the Jews!” with the Arabs and the Persians, but the Turkish people, on a whole, do not, and like to consider themselves a European or at least Western people.

I know a lot of Turks who are very dismayed by all of this, but do not know how to reign in Erdogan.

Turkey bars El Al flights because of what they claim are unacceptable security requirements.

Israel could easily put a stop to this by refusing to allow any flights between Turkey and Israel by Turkish airlines, but I suspect there isn't any political will to do this because Turkey is a very popular vacation destination for Israelis.

If I had to take a wild guess, it might be because ocean-going transportation has gone down to near zero.

It was the military that used Islam to reign in the socialists. Today, the secularists cannot reign in a popular leader. Ataturk was long ago. Now the secularist option is socialism. Pick your medicine.

All along the road to Ezekiel 38

Yup, I just wonder if it's going to be a race between Ezekiel 38/39 and Isaiah 17.
