Can you imagine getting a phone call that your sweet, seventy-three year old grandma was sucker punched by a roving band of teenaged thugs and shes now in ICU with a broken jaw and a cracked noggin? You cant? Yeah, me either. But we should start envisioning such a bizarre scenario for our sainted elders and others because the knockout game is all the rage for demonic hood rats lurking the streets.
If youre not dialed in on the sadistic phenomenon known as the knock out game then Google it yourself because Im not going to provide a link to that chum-slick and give it any traffic. But I will do this for you: I will assist you and yours in avoiding being a potential victim of these vicious sub-human scoundrels. Heres seven tips to eschew being a stat of such a heinous, violent crime.
1. Since Im a man of prayer I advise you to pray for protection and not take safety for granted. Call me medieval. Yep, I regularly pray for my loved ones well-being and trust our Heavenly Father to keep the a-holes a-way.
2. As much as you can, dont put yourself in the path of a rootless posse of pain. If you have to move to a safer place, then do it.
3. Dont walk our increasingly mean streets alone and make certain the folks you run with are street smart and will have your back. If you're elderly, I suggest you befriend the Bruce Lee in the neighborhood by making him great meals and, in exchange, have him go with you when you're on a grocery run.
4. Adopt a pit bull, feed it gun powder and call him Satan (or something to that affect); and take him with you everywhere you go.
5. I recommend studying the news clips that show these knock out clowns at work and make a mental note of the age range and the skin color of the culprits. Duh.
6. If youre young, youd better get on the stick and become proficient in some form of ass-kicking. The way things are going youre going to need to know how to throw down for the next few decades given this milieus entitlement mentality, our coddling culture and the egregious and growing lack of parental oversight and discipline.
7. Get a concealed carry permit, buy a gun and morph into a proficiency with said weapon that rivals Doc Holliday or Annie Oakley. If you live in some crap city or state that makes it impossible for you to carry out your God-given right of self-defense, then pick your junk up and leave that locale in the dust.
For some reason when I read your post I instantly got a mental picture of the mean streets completely covered by surveillance cameras a la London, of a pedestrian being viciously mugged by a knockout gang, of the police watching it all go down on monitors in HQ, and of the police laughing at the notion of the poor pedestrian wishing that he had a gun.
Strange, yes?
Well-said and thoughtful post...you are right!
Extreme situational awareness and one of those.
You are mistaken.
One hopes in that split second when he realized that keepin’ it real went wrong that he found the Lord.

Obama’s victory was an opportunity for healing and unity. Even many Republicans cheered his inauguration, but liberals rejected the gift that Americans were giving and instead doubled down. Racism became their response to everything. Now every week brings another editorial accusing skeptics of government health care of being the new Confederacy. The New York Times even ran an op-ed describing a new Mason-Dixon line composed of states that rejected Medicaid expansion.
As disappointing at this behavior was to many, it was an inevitable as that forged receipt. The left derives its purpose from defending the oppressed and doling out social justice. If racism were gone, it would have to find a new reason to justify its existence. It had to go through that once when class warfare imploded under the pressure of American prosperity. It isn’t about to go searching for a substitute for the racial tensions it manufactures.
“Heres a pack of diapers and a gallon of milk to tide you over for the weekend till you can get to the food bank on monday and get some help. That works. They know I give a damn and thats enough. Im not a threat.”
Paying tribute/protection, perhaps?
;-)
“Its like they believe that by just carrying a gun it will give them eyes in the back of their heads so they can see someone sneaking up on them from behind.”
Actually, carrying a gun DID do that for me. Not eyes in the back of my head, but it trains you to be much more aware of who is around you 360 degrees.
But agreed, it will happen fast. So not sure how to defend against it if all else fails (stay out of bad areas, don’t get boxed it, etc.). There is a youtube video of a middle-aged black guy decrying the knockout “game”. His advice to white people was “get a permit, carry a gun, and you see a group of black punks, you shoot them. Call it “shoot out”. Not sure if he got that comment reviewed by his attorney though.
.45 9mm .22 lr. .380 .40 cal and to hell with a permit. A thing that was won with blood and tears called the 2nd amendment a d my right to not be a victim is my permit! How dare anyone try and keep us from defending our lives! That sickens me.
I really didn’t find anything seriously useful in this article...
What was its (and the authors) purpose???
The odds of foreseeing an attack of this nature is sliim to none...Having a firearm to defend yourself is not going to do anything but get you into a lot of trouble...
If you manage to survive, and not be totally incapacitated by an attack like this, if you draw and shoot a person, or persons leaving you after the attack, YOU will be the one in trouble...A good (but bad) DA will do what they can to set an example of you in a case like this...We have seen it in the past...
The only thing you might be able to do is not put yourself into a situation like this...
Sounds easier said than done, but hey, if you have ever taken a life to save a life, you will know how heavy a burden that is in most cases...
Does this mean I do not advocate protecting yourself?? Absolutely not...
This is a dynamic legal situation where the advantage is with the attackers, and your reaction, if youmanage to be able to react will get you into more trouble legally, maybe not in the court of public opinion, but it is a ride you will not be able to get off of by choice...
And even if you do manage to get through it, all you have to do is look at how much scrutiny George Zimmerman is receiving these days...He cannot stay out of trouble, regardless if it is trumped up or not...
It is absolutely an unfortunate time and place for these attacks to be on the uprise...And they seem to be growing in popularity in the demographic it exploits...
As a victim you are damned if you do and damned if you don’t...
the only solution I see is that it would be great if the trend were to wane, and not be so prevalent in our society...
But I do not believe anyone should hold their breath, this will not go away with a simple crossing of the arms and a headbob (blink) like a genie...
I certain parts of town I’m switching for CC to OC.

That should be a part of our everyday lives, regardless of where we are.
“Condition 1???”
You mean you are prepared to immediately draw from retention and place accurate defensive shots into an attacker???
If you say you can do that in under a second, with one or more potential adversaries and not miss, or make any other mistake...
You know something...I have a few lawyer buddies that have said that every single round that leaves your gun, is any shooting situation, regardless of the provocation, or preventative, reactionary move on your part, has a lawyer, who is not your friend on it...
Even if it is a clear case of self-defense, per the laws of that state...
Seems to me you could use a lesson in how far a person could travel, to close the distance between you and the time it takes for you to draw from a concealed, retention “condition 1” status and fire even one round, accurately enough to stop that threat...
Its called the “Teuller Drill”...
I do not care how good you think you are, or your experience level...
If you find yourself on a street with a bunch of black yutes coming at you, in whatever way shape or form, or demeanor, that you can perceive, those perceptions can be deceptive, thats why they call it a game...
Good luck with that philosophy...
To be clear, I am not trying to bust yer chops on this, but this technical slant is dangerous to you, and others around you believing you are that good...
I’m not even that good...
The best thing you did say...
“Next time, don’t be there.”
That is wisdom...
Huh?
But they are not starving to death!
There are plenty of excellent crab house on the DelMarVa Peninsula. Lazy Susan's Hot Fat Crabs is one of my favorites just north of Lewes in Delaware. The Howard House in Elkton Maryland was a great place but is closed now.
Oleg Volk has a poster which has a female musician holding her violin. The message is:
Buying an instrument does not make you a musician.
Buying a gun does not make you a gun fighter.
Get Instruction.
Note the sad reality that the courses for a CCW permit are merely the beginning. An ex-fiancee of mine was a Biancci Cup record holder, a cute, red-headed school teacher, too. When she had a match coming up, she went from 50/100 rounds per weekend to 100 rounds per day and double that or more for the last few days.
Since you can’t do that, buy a Laserlyte thingie to go into the barrel of youe EMPTY gun. Every time you squeeze the trigger, the noise of the hammer (or striker) causes a 100 millisecond duration red dot to appear where the bullet would have hit if you had a loaded gun.,
This is G*d’s gift to a handgun owner - practice diligently, because your life might depend on your skill with your gun.
And, we both know you won’t go the range daily - so start ordering that thingie from Laserlyte.
PS I neither work for Laserlyte no own any stock in that company.
PPS I do strongly suggest to all my CCW students they immediately buy one. Oh, yeah - I have all of them use one as part of their training.
capitalism will speak loud and clear....
