Emergency trucks rushing to County Road 418...an oil plant has reportedly exploded. Reports up to 90 miles away of houses being shaken.
I live in Texas and I have a basement in my house. Something about the soil (at least here in North Texas) makes it hard to keep out water seepage. I only use it store items I don’t mind occasionally getting wet. One plus, it gives repairmen great access to pipes and air ducts as opposed to a crawl space.
Circa 1970 at 11PM there was a hydrogen cracker in Linden NJ that blew up (sabotage?). The blast was felt 40 miles away and buildings nearby, say 10-15 miles away, swayed as if a bomb had gone off nearby. Gas explosions can be some of the most powerful explosions perhaps moreso than nitrates. Anyway, in the Linden blast both the Agents on duty at the FBI and across the street at the Army CIC offices about 12 miles away thought bombs had one off in their buildings, that was how strong the blast was. Fortunately no one was injured in the Linden event albeit there was a lot of storefront damage in near by Elizabeth.
Not much news on this even from the local sources around Dallas/Ft. Worth.

There is one subdivision where I live in the northern burbs of Dallas that has basements. Many of them are walk outs.
There are a few. And if this is an owner-built home it certainly could’ve had one.
I wonder if these two explosions are related. This one happened in Grandview last week

Who owned the diner?
Jordanbeach,
Compare owner name of the diner to that of the house near you that you saw all in pieces.
FRmail me as needed.
The diner was in Washington (Yakima County). Wrong state.
Wow, just got back from Yakima. I guess I need to call my mom to see of she felt it.
Different Grandview, different state.
LOL, nevermind.
Interesting...
Where do you think it’s going?
The only reports I found were a log cabin blew up and nothing to do with an oil business of any kind. Propane leak is suspected.
Not much news out there regarding this event. This is from earlier this a.m.
snip
Alford says the preliminary investigation indicates there may have been a
propane gas leak that caused the explosion. Investigators will be at the
explosion scene Sunday trying to find an exact cause of the blast. The Sheriff
says they will do a hand search of debris Sunday.
Alford says they have found no indication the house was occupied at the
time of the explosion but they have not been able to make contact with the
owner of the home.
