Paul Franklin Crouch, co-founder of Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN), is dead at age 79, reported his grandson Brandon Crouch on Saturday.
"Today, my grandfather, #PaulCrouchSr went home to be with Jesus in heaven. Thank you for your prayers " Brandon Crouch tweeted.
TBN's official Facebook page later released the announcement about Crouch's death: "Dr Paul F Crouch passed into the presence of the Lord on November 30, 2013. We are grateful for the life of this amazing servant of God. Please pray for the Crouch family during this time. #paulcrouch #tbn"

Are you aware of why Tammy Faye became an icon to the homosexual community? When she and Jim were going through the downfall of PTL - the homosexuals were the only ones who opened their homes and heart to her. She felt a special place in her heart for their standing by her during her time of trial. What did the Christians do? They shunned her and turned to gossip. How awful for the Christian community who claim to love God - to turn their backs when she needed them the most.
I liked Tammy Faye and believe she was earnest in her walk. I will leave the rewards or punishment up to the One who sits on the throne - and that isn’t me!
What has happened is that denominations have stepped up (Roman Catholic only one) and presumed that if They Did Not Call On The Lord Their Way, then They Cannot Be Saved. Human pride all of it — and very despicable.
They’ve taken getting on the stairway to heaven and made it into a PhD rocket science problem.
Eventually she went on to start a Catholic charity/home for people out of prison with someone, became a Third Order Carmelite nun, so she was too busy for TBN.
Yeah, I also like to say that “becoming a Christian” doesn’t make you smart, right or even a theologian - but it does make you saved ... :-) ...
I do contend with a lot of the wrong teachings I hear “out there” - but I do realize that some of those who are in error about a lot of other teachings, may also be saved, according to what God has said about salvation.
AND ... for the record, I did not see that many of Paul Crouch’s statements and/or teachings were according to the Bible.
If TBN had been run a bit differently, it could have been awesome
To put in a good word for him, the network shows a lot of quality Christian movies uncut and commercial-free. I recall they had Mel Gibson’s “The Passion” running for several days last year during Holy Week.
The Catholic Church recognizes that non-Catholics can be saved, but that topic has been covered to death (pardon the pun) through the years on the Religion forum. Those threads seem more like an endless fight than a reasonable conversation.
I’ll just ask the Lord to give him eternal rest, and comfort his family.
No man man made religious pomp and ceremony will save from death.
Hebrews 9:27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:
The Christian communities tend to be embarrassed by enthusiasm.
This isn’t about Tammy Faye anyhow. One could speculate that the homo groups fooled her in her moment of need. I think Christians underestimate the power of God to turn even sins to the future benefit of the sinner.
One thing rings in my mind. Jesus told the Pharisees that the prostitutes were getting into the kingdom of heaven before the Pharisees were. We will forgive a sinner of some sins, but not of other sins, because we have created a false dichotomy. And sometimes the dichotomy is based in our own hypocrisies — our failure to respond to the gospel call to express the positive grace that is visibly lacking in those we consider the condemnable set. Of course those other people have a responsibility to God to express that grace too, but till WE do it, how are we going to lead THEM to do it? We won’t.
And I have a bit of a hobby horse here. Christian America has flunked the “glorify God in your bodies” test. Big time. That is why they cannot help homos and fall on the false dichotomy of either excusing the sin or execrating the sinners as being only stoneworthy. As a former sex sinner (though not by buggery) I find this bugs me big time. God had to walk me personally to that grace, with a few moments of precious help from loving Christians who understood my burden. The rest of Christian America was, in the main, too busy being hypocrites about their sex lives!
Tammy Faye was a grifter. That’s why the homosexuals loved her. She celebrated her sin just they they do.
I appreciate the Church Channel which is part of TBN. The line-up on Sunday evening is excellent. As far as the Bakkers. I tune in each evening to the Jim Bakker Show on TCT. Find it quite informative.
There is an eternity for everyone. The question is where?

I wasn’t a fan.
But this couple started with no money and built an enormous broadcasting network with hundreds of transmitters, hundreds of stations, beaming into every country on earth.
Thats what they did. Crazy, flawed, pink-haired though they may be. Thats what they did. They take in a lot of money and they spend a lot of money building and running their network and finding new countries to broadcast in to.
We used to watch them walk the mall and chuckle as they’d pass by.
Are they heretics? Their beliefs are pretty mainstream in the penticostal world. Did they teach “prosperity”? They taught that God answers prayer, and a big part of their empire was the prayer line where people called in with every problem imaginable to ask for prayer by the millions.
God didn’t ask me to build anything like that. Its a good thing; I’d have had no idea where to begin. I guess they didn’t either, but they went on and did it anyway.
I sure think they could have done far WORSE. If it was sincerely meant for the glory of the Lord as best they understood it, God then certainly blessed it.
Those who did not like it, can they do better than pot shots? Like say how they would have dealt with such an opportunity themselves?
“...remember King David who God called a man after his own heart, yet, he was also involved in murder and adultery. Do you believe he went to heaven - or Abrahams bosom - as a place where the Old Testament prophets went until the resurrection of Jesus Christ...”
~~~~~~~~~~~
Of a certainty, he did.
About as good a way to put it as anything. God didn't think small when He created humans.
So I guess we can just close all the prisons then...
He prophesied of such a thing in what is universally affirmed as scripture.
We take getting on the stairway to heaven as a PhD rocket science problem and only end up worshiping our own brains. Christ said, enter it as a little child. I have spent all the years of my Christian life, learning how to do just that.
Yep - and these folks and their ilk should be charged with and convicted of fraud, tax evasion, and racketeering, forced to pay restitution and locked in the shittiest prison in America.
Why are you here and what are you about?
I don’t know what your infantile word twistings accomplish.
The adage means to use a righteous judgment, one that God himself would approve of. A judgment that is well tempered with mercy but does not have a foolish lenity. One that achieves the goal of teaching the hellish how to be heavenly. It has both carrot and stick, but not as the godless world would envision it, and sometimes things that are big deals to the world are little deals to God.
Ah, nothing about whether a true or false gospel is preached?
To you of course it looks like foolishness.
>> “One of the things I grew to love about Methodism is the idea that you can lose your salvation.” <<
.
You can’t lose what you do not yet have. Yeshua said “those that endure to the end, the same shall be saved.”
