TBN Founder Paul Crouch Dies at Age 79 After Chronic Heart Problems

Paul Franklin Crouch, co-founder of Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN), is dead at age 79, reported his grandson Brandon Crouch on Saturday.

"Today, my grandfather, #PaulCrouchSr went home to be with Jesus in heaven. Thank you for your prayers…" Brandon Crouch tweeted.

TBN's official Facebook page later released the announcement about Crouch's death: "Dr Paul F Crouch passed into the presence of the Lord on November 30, 2013. We are grateful for the life of this amazing servant of God. Please pray for the Crouch family during this time. #paulcrouch #tbn"

First consider the medium, NYT.

Second the stuff being shared is pretty much “she accused, he accused.”

I’ve personally visited the TBN campus. If they wanted to do it up ostentatiously, they could have tried a lot harder. Sometimes I do wonder about the emphasis. Showing the Jesus movie would mean more than showing “Left Behind” but that’s just my own take. But again what would you or I do in such a situation? I hope I’d be sensible and dedicate it all to the Lord. That’s my stated intent. In real life I see myself fail and fail and fail again... but again sometimes I gloriously succeed and I know the Lord gave me a big boost at that time and I praise Him for it.

I co-owned a business that did business with their son. I know what I’m talking about.

All you gotta do is waive the Bible, and suckers will send you money and defend your criminal and pederast behaviour on Internet forums. What a country!

You might as well say “Where is Yehova in God’s word?”

It was a term created by zealous Jews so that if the word was encountered in writing and read, there would be less chance of saying it like it was said in the days of the Ark, which was probably “Yahweh.” They took those consonants and vowel pointed them like the word for Lord, “Adonai,” and the result was “Yehova.” And God jolly well knows what we mean when we say any of these things! The temple curtain long ago tore from top to bottom. The danger of the Ark’s holiness has passed because now we have a revealed Savior with His revealed work. He got it finished for His Father.

Holy Week is holy... if for no other reason that ALL days are holy now to believers. And because it recounts holy events. Just because someone idolizes them, does that take their use away? I hope not!!

Sometimes I think believers need to take a Jesus chill pill. Bigtime. And try to exercise charity. Try to see how that seemingly strange statement would fit, before declaring it to be demonic. You might find that Christ’s power is bigger, and Satan’s power smaller, than you ever suspected.

Until you explain specifics, no I won’t calibrate my holiness gauge from yours.

I remember loving TBN and Paul & Jan, in the mid/late 80’s. I still have one TBN tape I kept, where his guest was a Messianic Jew from south Texas, speaking on the Jewish feasts directed by God, and the meaning for the Jews. Turning point for me. I found those feasts, revealed in Jesus, applied and celebrated in the Catholic Church. Just sayin’.

RIP, Paul Crouch.

A Freudian slip?

You do Waive the Bible, but I've never seen you wave it.

Has nothing to do with holiness.

I hope I never would “waive” the bible.

I might wave it, but dunno. I prefer to raise holy hands.

Yes, some televangelists are inconsiderate. They don’t try to spend the maximum possible of their offering on evangelism. That is what I would expect out of a televangelist. The television is a wonderful way to evangelize; so use it for that. Don’t use what I gave you to get another Rolex when you have ten of them already. Let them get their fringe bennies from other sources.

The bait works equally well for the wavers as for the waivers!

Has everything to do with it. Falling short of holiness would be sin. Whatever “grifting” is (thou shalt not grift?) maybe it is a sin. Explain further. Or be automatically shown up as all bark and no bite.

I’ll start with this. They received hundreds, maybe thousands of prayer requests that they would read on the air. What you don’t know is the ONLY ones they read were the ones that had money in them. The rest got thrown into a “prayer chest” in their chapel. I guess some people’s prayers come with a price tag. It was very sad.

If someone has accepted the Lord to save his [her] eternal life and worships Him the best he has been given to know how, then I don’t complain about where he does the worshiping or who got the message to him.

This makes me one of the crazier of Crazy Evangelicals... and I don’t care. I protest for Christ more than most of my fellow Protestants do. Enough to even protest for recognition of His presence among Catholics.

1682 places; 57 of them with all vowel points. (Aleppo text)

Holy Week might well be called Satan’s week for all of the blasphemous deviations from Yehova’s commandments, and for all of the sheep that will burn in the lake of fire because of them.

Yehova’s week is called The Days of Unleavened Bread, and it follows Passover, and has nothing to do with Easter or the eggs dyed red in infant’s blood.

Revelation 21:17-21 (AMP)
17 He measured its wall also—144 cubits (about 72 yards) by a man’s measure [of a cubit from his elbow to his third fingertip], which is [the measure] of the angel.
18 The wall was built of jasper, while the city [itself was of] pure gold, clear and transparent like glass.
19 The foundation [stones] of the wall of the city were ornamented with all of the precious stones. The first foundation [stone] was jasper, the second sapphire, the third chalcedony (or white agate), the fourth emerald,
20 The fifth onyx, the sixth sardius, the seventh chrysolite, the eighth beryl, the ninth topaz, the tenth chrysoprase, the eleventh jacinth, the twelfth amethyst.
21 And the twelve gates were twelve pearls, each separate gate being built of one solid pearl. And the main street (the broadway) of the city was of gold as pure and translucent as glass.

I can’t wait to hear everyone in heaven complaining about how God wastes so much money on building projects. “No Jesus, I don’t want the mansion you prepared for me, just give me any old double-wide down by the dump.”

I don’t personally know anything about Paul Crouch. I do know that global Christian TV was largely nonexistent until TBN came along. There is no doubt in my spirit that God was working through his network, reaching millions that would never have heard the Gospel without TBN, and would never dream of stepping foot in, or back in, the average church.

Words to live by:

“It is the Holy Spirit’s job to convict, God’s job to judge, and my job to love.” – Billy Graham

And...

Luke 9:49-50 (AMP)
49 John said, Master, we saw a man driving out demons in Your name and we commanded him to stop it, for he does not follow along with us.
50 But Jesus told him, Do not forbid [such people]; for whoever is not against you is for you.

I agree with you and I am Catholic. You hammered the nail and with charity, and with your entire statement, especially the remark, “....as best they understand it”.

Nice.

Conservative Lutheran Church. I have seen to much of the Positive Confession and Health and Wealth Gospel Preachers destroy people whom believed in the person. They did not believe in God. Fred Phelps is a fraud too. Tony Alamo a fraud too.

Not judging him as a dead man. Just stating the facts that his Gospel was not the Gospel Of Jesus Christ but a man centered theology that is based on the individual not Jesus Christ.

What was the fruit that he produced?

I have seen these preachers up close too many times. I have had to deal with the fallout in counseling people whom have left the faith in Christ because they were taken in by con artists.

I think he was a believer, but his theology wasn’t the most “sound” doctrine in the body of Christ.

You’re right if I read you correctly, pay to pray is wrong. Did they ever have prayers for the “chest”? Or deal with the contents in some other manner like having someone post them on the website?
