US advises carriers to comply with China air zone

BEIJING — The United States advised U.S. carriers to comply with China’s demand that it be told of any flights passing through its new maritime air defense zone over the East China Sea, an area where Beijing said it launched two fighter planes to investigate a dozen American and Japanese reconnaissance and military flights.

It was the first time since proclaiming the zone on Nov. 23 that China said it sent planes there on the same day as foreign military flights, although it said it merely identified the foreign planes and took no further action.

China announced last week that all aircraft entering the zone — a maritime area between China, Taiwan, South Korea and Japan — must notify Chinese authorities beforehand and that it would take unspecified defensive measures against those that don’t comply. Neighboring countries and the U.S. have said they will not honor the new zone — believed aimed at claiming disputed territory — and have said it unnecessarily raises tensions.

State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki said in a statement Friday that the U.S. remained deeply concerned about China’s declared air identification zone. But she said that it is advising U.S. air carriers abroad to comply with notification requirements issued by China.

I’m OK with commercial airlines complying for safety, if at the same time we run some F-15s through there weekly.

The cause being, of course, that President Obama bent over and spread the Vaseline for the Chinese.

White House Science ‘Czar’ Tells Students: U.S. Can’t Expect to Be Number One in Science and Technology Forever

(CNSNews.com) – The Obama administration’s top science and technology official, who has argued for the economic de-development of America, warned science students last Friday that the United States cannot expect to be “number one” forever.

“We can’t expect to be number one in everything indefinitely,” Dr. John P. Holdren said at the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS).

Holdren is director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy and chairs the President’s Council of Advisors on Science & Technology (PCAST), making him the top science adviser in the administration.

....Pointing to the conclusions of geochemist Harrison Brown in the 1950’s, Holdren said, “(T)he cooperative effort needed to create the basis for durable prosperity, and hence durable security, for all the world's people would require an investment equivalent to 10 to 20 percent of the rich countries' GNPs, sustained over several decades. In 1995, these figures do not seem far wrong, but they are said to be politically unrealistic: nothing approaching them has ever been seriously contemplated by the world's governments. Until this changes, a world free of war…will remain just a dream.”

Similarly, in his 1973 book “Human Ecology: Problems and Solutions,” he suggested “de-developing” the United States to benefit other, poorer nations....."

Every single Chinese person who has won a Nobel has ended up in the U.S. We cleaned out Russia in the 90’s too. And took in many top Jewish intellectuals from Europe in the 30’s and 40’s.

The U.S. has always prospered by pilfering talent from elsewhere by offering a more pleasant society to live in.

My God, we have fallen so quickly. I remember that in the 80’s when Libya claimed rights over the Gulf of Sidra, President Reagan ordered freedom of navigation exercises by American combat aircraft which were armed for air to air combat. The Libyans wisely decided not to engage and that they had pushed Reagan too far.

This country should have U.S. commercial aircraft act as before, but have American or Japanese combat aircraft act as escorts, must as they did with Iran when there were reflagged tankers in the Arabian Gulf.

This president is beyond vacillating to the enemy, he is a died in the wool coward.

One might consider U.S. fighter escorts for commercial flights going into the area, but this administration doesn’t
have the balls.

The US should be on patrol and shoot down any Chinese fighter that gets anywhere near any planes flying through this zone.

Obama is a coward.

He shrank like a teenage girl when Iran had a surge of revolutionary fervor a couple years back. He didn't want to take the responsibility of helping overthrow the Iranian Gov't.

He imposed the "red line" in Syria and then folded like a wet, cheap suit when it was crossed.

Typical lily livered Democrat.
