RUSH LIMBAUGH SCORCHES POPE FRANCIS
WorldNetDaily ^ | 11/27/2013 | KATHY SHAIDLE

Radio giant Rush Limbaugh is scorching the leader of the Roman Catholic Church for criticizing unfettered capitalism, saying, “This is just pure Marxism coming out of the mouth of the pope.”

“You know the pope, Pope Francis has issued an official papal proclamation, and it’s sad,” Limbaugh said on his national broadcast Wednesday. “It’s actually unbelievable. It’s sad because this pope makes it very clear he doesn’t know what he’s talking about when it comes to capitalism and socialism and so forth.”

“I’m not Catholic,” Limbaugh added, “but up until this I admired the man.”

In the 84-page document titled “Evangelii Gaudium,” which was released Tuesday, Pope Francis called upon politicians to provide “dignified work, education and health care” to all citizens.

“The commandment ‘Thou shalt not kill’ sets a clear limit in order to safeguard the value of human life,” wrote the pope. “Today we also have to say ‘thou shalt not’ to an economy of exclusion and inequality. Such an economy kills.”

Noting that he had visited the Vatican “numerous times,” Limbaugh observed wryly: “Believe me, it wouldn’t exist without tons of money. Somebody has either written this for [the pope] or gotten to him. This is pure Marxism.”

"And there’s nothing about capitalism that says you can’t have laws saying people can’t dump chemical and nuclear waste anywhere they want."

You just used a triple negative. You really are a Jedi!

Maybe if Catholics spent more energy fixing their "system" of religion instead of
condemning those who point out the flaws, the "system" would be a better place.

This has nothing to do with Rush per se - it has to do with your arrogant ignorance, and whatever brain cancer you have that precludes you from seeing how absurd you have been in applying textbook technical definitions while Rush has been talking about the real world.

The existence of RINOs doesn’t disprove that commonwealths were formed. It just proves that RINOs can’t be trusted.

Harold Camping? Seriously?? I have to laugh. I had a job once where I had a late night commute home, and I got to listen to him regularly for a while. Other than the fact that both men had fan clubs, there is no comparison.

But I guess for you having a fan club makes a person “godlike.” In reality most people who like or support some popular individual retain their ability to think and make good judgments. Cultish subservience does happen, though, and with Camping there were some who followed him beyond the limits of both Scripture and reason. He lost me when he started asserting we could know the time of the Second Coming, when Jesus said we couldn’t. The unmitigated nerve it took to say such a thing.

Rush on the other hand has said things I disagree with, but if you listen to him any length of time, you know its one of his gifts to package complex ideas in a simplified form that gets at the idea’s critical essence, the part of the idea the average listener needs to grasp to make an informed political choice. So he’s popular because he’s useful. His “product” is valuable to the conservative political community.

As for belittlement as a debate tactic, I make a concerted effort not to use it. But it can be a temptation, and honestly I see you using such a technique yourself, albeit in a different form, which is why I and others here are having a seriously hard time taking you seriously. You are belittling everyone here, by innuendo, in suggesting that we are mindless worshippers of various “godlike” figures, “ditto-heads” because we find value in some radio commentator. How is that not like accusing someone of a mental deficiency? I fail to see the moral consistency here. If you really believe its a wrong technique, don’t use it. People will like you better, even when they don’t agree with you. There’s value in that. Just something to think about ...

It is those white Catholics who might be lost if the Pope keeps on pushing things that sound socialist

It is foolish to treat everyone alike, and when a troll shows his ugly head we need to step on and and chop off his head.

Rather Pope is a Jesuit with a Francisian spirituality.

...time for me to leave the Catholic Church...

You're not serious, I think.

My very long time friend, her husband and young children moved to CA years ago. After 24 yrs. of marriage, he took up with a co-worker, divorced her and remarried. Some years later she also remarried to a Catholic man. She and first husband were also Catholic.

My friend and her now husband have applied for annulments to their first marriages.

She "loves Pope Francis" and I do believe she wants to see a change in the Church's teaching on divorce and remarriage.

I can't predict any basic changes in church teachings on divorce and remarriage, abortion, contraceptives, Sunday and Holy Day Mass attendance, yearly Confessions, married priests, women priests, etc.

While I adhere to some of these moral teachings, I have a problem accepting all of them. Maybe organized religion is not for me. I prefer to relate to and trust in God to hear, know, understand and be merciful to me, my loved ones and everyone on earth, and those who have left this world to be in heaven with Him. He is the final Judge.
