‘You don’t understand how bad it is here’

The Marine told his father about training the Afghan police and described their chief as “a bad guy.”

“They’re going to kill me here,” the son told his father. “They’re going to murder me inside my facility. These people are bad people, Dad.”

“You people don’t understand how bad it is here,” he explained. “They don’t care about us. They don’t want us here. They said it to me. But we have to do what we’re told to do because we’re Marines.”

Buckley Jr. described how he how he wasn’t scared about fighting; he was scared about being murdered at night while he was sleeping.

“They’re not normal people, and we shouldn’t be here. We’re serving no purpose. We’re being lied to. They’re telling us one thing and it’s a whole other agenda. They have their reasons for us to be there. And as soon as we stand up and say something, they make us disappear,” the son confided to his father.

Deadly premonition

A few weeks later, the Buckley family received a goodbye letter from the Marine.

He thanked his parents for everything they’d done for him and told his two younger brothers to grow up to be great young men and always to do the right thing.

A few days later, the Marine was dead.

You are not thinking like true conservatives. Thank about all the millions of dollars that were spent for equipment to fight this war by American companies Think about the multitudes of American people who were employed building all this equipment. Only think about the economic end of wars and how many jobs are created by us jumping into every conflict that we can. There is benefits to being the world police force, I think. Ah, maybe there’s some benefits.......

Rule of thumb: Never patrol with more men than you can control.

Say 7 of yours, and 3 allies. 12 of yours and 10 allies.

Be sure you can wipe out all the “allies” at any time. Then, they are likely to be loyal. Some of the patrols will come back with all the loyal allies as casualties, left on the field of battle.

Give your allies every incentive to police their own. They will have to do it after we leave, they can practice it now.

No, we are thinking like conservatives.

The Democrats ran the defense industry to gain votes. Defense votes for Democrats are in competition with other means to buy votes.

Conservatives run it to increase the capability to kill people and break things. Every program that promises the ability to kill people and break things is in competition with other ways to kill people and break things.

Not all Republicans are conservative.

“We need to leave that sh*thole, the sooner the better.”

AGREE!! Our troops are being killed and maimed for what reason?? Those people hate us,don’t want us there and seem not to appreciate any help we’ve given them! Enough! Bring ALL of our troops home NOW. I’ve called the WH many times to say this....not that it does any good with the crew that’s there. May God help and protect our troops.

Unfortunately, I believe your ‘rule of thumb’ is contrary to our PC ROE. I hope to hell he spends some time in schools, until we pull out of that $hithole.

The rule of thumb was developed after analysis of operations going back to Varus in the German forests.

There were some exceptions. Lawrence of Arabia was known for trotting about with very few British soldiers along with him. He had the advantage of fighting with Arabs against Turks who had been very cruel to the Arabs. He also normally had some of his British soldiers in an armored car with a machine gun, so loyalty was more strongly encouraged.

They say you can not buy an Afghan’s loyalty. You can only rent it, at a high price, only so long as it is in the Afghan’s interest.

I find the use of expletives on this site appalling.

Really? It is not bad here, but you should go to democraticUnderground for really appalling language.
