Boeing has issued a formal request for proposals (RFP) to 15 locations around the United States that will bid for the work of building its forthcoming 777X jet, according to a source close to the discussions.
Washington state is one of the 15 sites under consideration. The others include both existing Boeing locations and new greenfield sites, the source said.
Boeing spokesman Doug Alder confirmed Saturday that the RFPs were sent out late Friday afternoon and into the evening.

Oh, and no unions...another TX benefit ;-)
Then produce it overseas. I see a problem with New Mexico as it is a blue state.
That’s what really hacks me off.
They (the state) offered Boeing 9 BILLION DOLLARS in tax incentives.
Now, they are talking about raising the gas tax so they can spend it on roads and infrastructure that helps Boeing.
Meanwhile, the machinists told Boeing to take a flying leap, after Boeing practically GUARANTEED them 8 more years of employment, what’s that, A QUARTER of the average persons employment lifetime?
Now, the machinists are crying in their beer about how unfair Boeing is...
They need to man the hell up. They tried to push Boeing around, and it said “No thanks!”
Would not surprise me one bit if in 20 years, there is no Boeing in Washington state.
Roswell, long runway? Didn’t realize those alien spacecraft needed long runways.
I live 35 miles from The Long Beach plant, and ordinarily I would agree with you. The thing that makes this locale look viable is the fact that Boeing can not afford to have a serious delay in production. Long Beach is an existing plant, with a trained workforce, and a nearby port, for importing all the components manufactured off shore. I can see where they’d absorb the extra costs here, in order to get production ramped up in relatively short order. Thanks.
I don’t really see what the problem is for Seattle. Didn’t Kshama Sawant say she was going to steal that Boeing factory and “convert” it into making VCRs and lectric buses and rainbow generators and Unicorn horseshoes and other useful stuff not used for war?
Texas has aerospace unions, but we are a right to work state.
No doubt about it, what a putz she is. LOL!
Yeh, but the state would crank up the taxation rape machine within 5 years of being there.
Every time I’ve been to KLGB in the last 6 years the workers are always picketing something.
Rockford, Illinois has a huge runway and I think there is plenty of empty dirt near it that would be a good place to put a facility. It’s in the Red part of a Blue voting state, but Boeing has been in Illinois long enough to realize that the corruption in the state would poison any potential benefit from building there.
Huntsville AL would be wonderful. Lots of talent, high tech companies here. Boeing already has a nice operation here too. Right To Work state, come on down. :)
If Boeing moves from one libtard state (WA) to another even more pitiful state (CA), they deserve everything they get in the long-term, from strikes, slowdowns, taxes, etc.
My understanding is that they fall ‘victim’ to mob psychology, but when they are individualized, they think more in terms of mortgage, car payments, kid’s college tuition, etc. Hopefully, the voting on a contract, if offered, is by secret ballot. Thanks.
Port, skilled workers, a lot of automobile made there including all the MB’s in America; lower costs of electricity; thank you TVA.
Water and skilled workers along the 65 corridor.
“Dallas has an old Air Force base right in town that the Air Force gave to the city and isnt being used right now. The city is trying to sell it. That would also be a good choice.”
I live in the DFW metroplex and I’m not aware of an Air Force base right in downtown Dallas. But, not saying there isn’t one. However, Carswell AFB is on the outskirts of Fort Worth and was used for B-36’s and B-52’s, now used a little by the Air Guard I think. Lockheed is also located here in the metroplex. Btw, the B-36 was built by Convair here in the metroplex. So, there is a long history of aircraft manufacturing in this area.
Agreed, Mobile would be a fine location; selfishly speaking, I hope they pick Long Beach. Thanks.
Hey, Boeing, over here!!!
Even though we have a smarmy, crooked, anti-right to work, shyster for a governor, we will stay right to work thanks to our conservative House of Delegates....
Hey, Boeing...VA is for airplane building Lovers.....
