A CNN/ORC International survey released Friday indicates that 90% of all Americans approve of how Kennedy handled his job as President. No other President of the last half century even comes close.
Second place belongs to Ronald Reagan, with a 78% retrospective approval rating, followed by Bill Clinton with 74%. Richard Nixon, Kennedy's 1960 rival and the only president ever forced to resign, is at the bottom with only 31% approving of his track record from 1969 to 1974. Only George W. Bush, with a 42% retrospective approval rating, is also under 50%.
"History has generally been kind to ex-presidents, but none more so than Kennedy. His approval rating in November of 1963 was 58%. In the 1990s, that number rose to 78% and rose even further in later years," said CNN Polling Director Keating Holland.

If 90 percent of Americans knew how badly Kennedy screwed up with Cuba alone, they might not be so kind to “Camelot”.
Still, he was a tax cutter and could never be nominated in today’s Democrat Party.

Getting his head blown off sure turned around the reputation he had at the time for being an up and coming loser. It is proof that the democrat party can put lipstick on a pig, even a dead one, and turn it into gold.
Only problem is...the pig is still a pig; albeit a dead one.
Ask them again next year without all of the tv specials and wall to wall news praise.

From what was released about his medicine cabinet in the White House, the sex part of it may have been tame by comparison.
Kennedy reportedly did have a lot of back pain. As such some of those medications may have been warranted. Still, when you think of the Cuban missile crisis and the Bay of Pigs fiasco, you can’t help but wonder what types of influences the guy was under at those times.

And that may be an unfair statement because he got shot, but during the time he was in office, he didn’t do anything for the country that immediately comes to mind. I suppose he held the line on the Cuban Missile Crisis pretty well, but... what else?
Why does getting shot suddenly make your presidency good? Did people rant and rave about McKinley?
G.W. Bush should have just taken a walk through South Side Chicago during his last week in office and he’d be called a hero. I really do despair at how politically/historically ignorant people are in this country. Ask the average man or woman what Bay of Pigs was and they’ll probably think you’re talking about a defunct bacon company.

Myth, Legend, and celebrity status always wins. Accomplishments without the above are not really considered by today’s voters. Kennedy 1000 days, brought us a button push from disaster in 1962. In 1963, he messed up things in Vietnam too, by budding in on the Regime change. Oh lets not forget the Bay of Pigs fiasco. Yeah, he’s #1 all right, but that’s only in the mind of the mind controlling media.
I think that ranking is pretty good. I may swap Reagan with JFK but both should be 1 or 2.

Kennedy was a mediocre president at best, but he was assassinated in office so he gets far higher rankings than he ever should.
Reality is Kennedy wouldn’t even be welcome in the Democratic party of today.
Let’s see...an immoral dope addict who passed women around like boxes of crackerjacks, a “war hero” who shut his plywood vessel down in enemy waters and had it cut in half by a Japanese warship, who was also involved romantically with a Nazi spy, uh, there’s more but my doorbell just rang.
It’s tough to sort them best to worst, considering that we have mostly done quite poorly in choosing leaders over the past 50 years, but my choices are:

Ford
George W. Bush
LBJ
Nixon
JFK
Clinton,
Carter
Obama (by a HUGE margin!)
Note: Obama is one disaster from overtaking James Buchanan as the worst in American history, and he is trying his best to provoke that event.
The "Best and The Brightest" were appointed by JFK and also advised LBJ.
McNamara, Rusk, the Bundys, the Rostows, Max Taylor, et al were all instrumental in making a hash of Viet Nam. Would their advice to Kennedy have been any different than it was to Johnson?
He had great hair, and went to Harvard.
What more does it take?
