Another report said it was a 737. That didn't make sense. If it is a 747 they will strip as much as they can and probably get the special crew from Boeing that does this type of recovery. Not the first time and it will not be the last time.

It might be cheaper just to gift that airport a longer runway . . . and call in a construction crew who can work very quickly . . .

I thought I heard noon take off. Is there any update yet?

No bad news since no coverage on local news.

It landed at the wrong airport? Was Obama flying the thing?

It should be able to take off with minimal fuel and some dummy weights ballasts. Same thing happened long time ago when stricken TACA Boeing 737 landed at the New Orleans levee.

“Runway 3000+ feet to short. “

That is for maximum takeoff weight.

Reduce fuel and payload and no problem.

It is plenty long for a takeoff. But “approved” runway length is “start-stop” length. The distanc4 to accelerate to min flight sped and stop if a problem occurs during the takeoff run.

On a runway too short for “start-stop” , once well into the takeoff roll , you are pretty much committed and have to go, no option to abort.
