House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) said Tuesday that the country doesnt need to worry about another government shutdown in January when the current stopgap spending bill runs out.
The government shutdown lasted for 16 days in October, after Republicans demanded that President Obama defund his signature healthcare law.
To avoid another shutdown, Ryan said either he and Senate Budget Committee Chairwoman Patty Murray (D-Wash.) would strike a budget deal or Congress would pass a stopgap keeping existing spending levels.
Either of those two scenarios will prevail, and we will not have a government shutdown, he said at the Wall Street Journal annual CEO Council. We will keep the government funding at the current level if need be.

5% interest on $17 Trillion is $850 Billion a year. Think of all the entitlements (and other stuff) that sucks up.
The GOP House gave us the shutdown that was demanded of then by talk radio and lo and behold, Obamacare stayed funded during the shutdown anyway.
So a major fail.
No, the major fail was and is the tip toe GOPe strategy. Ryan surrendering on spending is just more of it. The GOP establishment has refused to engage the Democrats on any issues of substance. It’s too hard, they Dems have the media, etc., etc. It’s been one surrender party after another since Obama got in the WH.
Now the question is: will it be the Dem overreach on obamacare that gifts the GOP the Senate. One thing we know for certain is that any victory in 2014 won’t be due to beltway GOP strategizing. Because there is no GOPe strategy other than wait for the next election.
The shutdown strategy was no strategy because everyone even those mounting it expected it to fail at its stated goal : defunding Obamacare
. Everyone knew the ending, Bohner going to Pelosi for votes for a Senate CR. This was a certainly from before the start.
And Obamacare was exempt from shutdown.
It was just a drawn out loyalty test that kept Obamcare off the news and united Dems till it was over.
What was easy about 2010 win was GOP was completely out of power so they could all oppose everything without risk to any of them.
It was automatic
Here's one ;"When the Dems are killing themselves dont draw attention away from that to yourself"
Complete and total surrender monkeys, and still the real conservatives get blamed for all the ills of the GOPe, including the loss in the last general election, just over a year ago.
