Rep. Trey Radel, a freshman Republican from Florida, was arrested on Oct. 29 for possession of cocaine in the District of Columbia, according to D.C. Superior Court documents.
Radel, 37, was charged with misdemeanor possession of cocaine in D.C. Superior Court on Tuesday. He is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday.
Radel faces a maximum of 180 days in jail, as well as a possible fine up to $1,000.
The U.S. Attorneys office for the District of Columbia declined to comment on Radels arrest or criminal cases.
The Florida Republican is a former journalist, TV anchor and radio talk-show host. He never held elective office before winning his House seat last November.
Radels office did not respond to a request for comment at press time.
The freshman lawmaker represents Floridas 19th district in the southwestern part of the state. The district includes Fort Myers, Naples, and Cape Coral.
Trey?
What kind of name is that?
I think that Radel will have to resign; after all, it’s not as if he’s a Democrat.
Maybe Byron Donalds can try again for the seat: http://www.byrondonalds.com/ Donalds won several straw polls in the 2012 primary, and would be a conservative superstar if elected to Congress.
I sure hope that the RINOish former Congressman Connie Mack IV doesn’t try to reclaim the seat.
WOW, they identified the political party in the first sentence. Wonder why?
Was Radel a RINO?
Not sure it’s true in this case, but “Trey” is often a nickname for someone whose name ends in “III” (i.e., “the third”).
His name is Henry Jude Radel III. Yes, they call him “Trey” because he’s “the Third.” That’s also the case for ESPN’s Trey Wingo.
He can run for mayor of the District of Corruption or maybe Toronto.
A “Rob Ford” Republican?
The Florida Republican is a former journalist, TV anchor and radio talk-show host.................
oh ... wait ....
Well hopefully he was falling down drunk at the time.
I never heard of this guy until a short time ago. Now we know he’s a dope.
Very much agree about Donalds. He would be excellent in the House. I was surprise when he didn’t get the seat, with how popular he was.
Here’s the Wiki website, for what it’s worth:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trey_Radel
It says he is conservative. But apparently he favors the Dream Act, and he worked for CBS and CNN. And he was endorsed by Connie Mack.
Also he bought up the domain names of his primary opponents a year ahead of time, and then lied about it.
Wiki is biased, but I assume the actual facts are probably accurate.
It’s a yuppie/hipster/preppy d-bag name if you ask me.

First cropped up in the 60’s. Got more popular in the 90’s. Radel was born in ‘76.
Wouldn’t you know if he was? : )
As far as I know, Radel is a rock-ribbed conservative, and he represents a safely GOP district, so he didn’t have to worry about having his conservative voting record being used against him. But now all of that is gone, because of a huge character flaw that he had hidden from the voters.
